Billy hasn't made a good album since Machina
>>130323013>since Mellon Collie*
>>130321881not enough scientology to care
>>130323946cyr was his last good one but OPs sounds good so far
first four pumpkins albums were perfect, he had a good run, longer than most.but after adore they fell off
>>130323013>since Zwanftfy
>>130321881I had no idea, I am listening right now. >>130321881

Little bit like the start of Metropollis movie, Billy likes the old movies like Tonight video is a copy of one
>>130329657Nearly 100 years old, look at this https://youtu.be/Be955EMr13o?si=sd1tAXTfaHW7GnOn
I'm a long time Pumpkinhead.I just can't bring myself to care anymore, I really do want them to suceed and have gone out to bat for *some* of their new material but it's just sunk cost fallacy at this point. My biggest gripe is, what is Billy actually writing about anymore? These bizarre and imagined narratives aren't a suitable substitute for actual feeling and emotion, it's dead on arrival. No amount of art deco imagery and portmanteau song titles will ever change that.
>>130329718Yeah do the kids know he had a solo stint around Zwan times, The Future Embrace, I don't know anyone who listened to that record. It's been all cringe since Adore
>>130329745I actually like The Future Embrace, I also think there's some really beautiful songs on Ogilala (which is the direction he should have gone in if he really wanted to prolong his career). You're right, Billy is a great example of the dangers of being cringe, or not having people around you who can identify cringe and reel you in (which was apparently Darcy once upon a time).
Why isn’t the boomer putting machina reissue on streaming?
Smashing Pumpkins effectively ended when they broke up in 2000. Billy boy's last gasp of enlightened music was unironically when he found God and made the Zwan record. I will not bother with the rest of it. Maybe he'll have another stroke of genius later in life, but I'm not holding my breath.
agree that zwan was the last good billy/pumpkins original. even the future embrace had its moments
