Can we have a Halsey thread? We never have Halsey threads.https://youtu.be/xdYFuCp3m9k
>>130325514Halsey writes where it hurts. The EP's consistent theme, much like subsequent albums she'd release, is living in, leaving and being haunted by toxic relationships. "Is There Somewhere" painfully introduces us to Halsey coming to terms with lustful encounters with a man already in a relationship. The cold production matches the tension felt throughout the song with icy beats and ethereal synths deepening the impact. Her performance is especially poignant at the end when she asks, "Could we pretend we're in love?" It's the story of a woman desperate for connection even with the worst of people but knows it'll only lead to emptiness and despair."Ghost" picks up where "Is There Somewhere" leaves off, but this time around, there is no lingering need from the narrator as heard on the previous track nor is there the same tension in being in a forbidden relationship despite it too about leaving toxicity. This one's more upbeat while still maintaining the emotional eeriness established in the previous track. Here, Halsey makes peace with the fact that the man she was with had no feelings for her."Hurricane" is simultaneously an anthem of independence along with reflections on an ex that simultaneously inspires her along with dissuades her from taking darker paths. The song features what would later become a staple in Halsey's mythmaking as a strong independent woman who doesn't belong to anyone. And then comes Halsey's least favorite track on the release: "Empty Gold". According to her, she wanted this tune to be more cinematic and triumphant. Perhaps she feels the track is too contrived to be an empowerment anthem that left her with empty bombast. That being said, the chorus here is quite catchy. We finally close out on the painful closer "Trouble (Stripped)". This version features Halsey singing her heart out over a piano. The simplicity allows the lyrics to come forward with "Can you see his silhouette" as a hauntingly repeated refrain.

>>130325584This thread wasn't me, but this is cool. I always enjoy your reviews
>>130326404Hadn't seen you in awhile, but I posted this when you wanted to launch a new /halmag/ weeks back. Was hoping you'd give Now That the Light Is Fading a listen and review to kick off the thread. Sadly, Grok got neutered, but at least we got some sweet slop out of it. Anyway, how's life and what other Halsey songs could I look forward to?
>>130325514Im pretty sure we have halsey threads all the time for no good reason. Just another sad excuse to ogle femoids under the guise of music discussion
you two need to chat in discord and fuck off
>>130327452Just got home broski. But yes I'll check it out. I might get a trip cause I know there's a couple other Halsey fans and some impersonate me (no pun intended)
>>130328757That's exactly what happened to me. One guy kept making Maggie threads to drum up hate. Got very annoyed by being confused with him plus he was a cunt.
