This here is the GOAT of music, say something nice about him
he was also the goat of snorting coke until The Eagles finally got ahead of CSNY in the great snow races of the 1970's
>>130331078He has kino solos and great taste in guitars.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AeEK_nCNuAw
>>130331078>the best solo album of any CSNY album was Crosbywhy is big music trying to cover this fact up?
>Y'know I REALLY love fine wine and good scotch>and, uuuuuhhhh, that's the end of that
>>130331078COLORADO
>>130331078unlike Neil Young he never had the work ethic or self-discipline to make use of his talents
Stills [Atlantic, 1975]In which Steve recycles his "Favorite set of changes/Good for a couple of songs." His supporters will find that endearing, I know. They may even dig him copping a lick from Alice Cooper later on the lyric. But me, I find it pathetic. C-
>>130333795that's not very nice
>>130333803tf is this guy's beef with Stephen Stills? Did Stills do his girlfriend at Woodstock?
>>130338589All of CSNY (minus Y) represented to him the phoniness of the California/Laurel Canyon scene, having this idealistic self-image as free spirited hippies while in actuality just being a bunch of rich selfish assholes who ultimately lost themselves in their own self-indulgence. Which to be fair was kind of true, even if his musical prejudices were dumb.
>>130333795Stills lacked the self-doubt that kept Young grounded
>>130338623as anon said, Stills is a very insecure aspie he's never been that successful as a solo artist while Neil is an outgoing normie Chad with great people skills
>>130338642exactly...Stills reminds Cuckgau too much of himself and he doesn't like that. Neil is the Chad he wishes he could be.
Whoops! Sorry, everyone. OP here. Posted the wrong image. Lemme fix it.
>>130331078>auditioned for the Monkees but was rejected because he was too ugly
>>130338700dodged a bullet
>>130338700Specifically because his teeth were rancid
>>130338623Why did he give Neil Young a pass?Still, they were always very close friends and lived in the same surroundings doing the same things.
>>130338700I thought the Monkees were deliberately ugly to look more like a British band.I believe the real reason was that they already had a short guy.
>>130341146might have actually had a notable solo career with the public identity of 'Monkee who is actually a top-flight musician'.
>>130341246SS had bad teeth was the supposed reason.
>>130342881>Monkee who is actually a top-flight musicianlike michael nesmith and peter tork? you know, of the monkees fame
it's weird how little is actually known about Stills's solo albums, for some reason nobody's ever asked about those in interviews and everyone just wants to ask him about CSNY
>>130343202you know there are different levels of good, right?Nesmith and York had reps as decent players.but some regard Stills as like Hendrix/Clapton level.I never cared enough to look too deeply tho.
>>130346629Stills was a damn good guitarist, better than Young, and he was definitely regarded as such back in the 60s-70s.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dIDzA0YDso8my favourite member of CSNY? Tom Jones.
he used to have a house in Colorado in the 70s and hippies would try to go there and bug him. they would drive or hitchhike into town and ask where Stills's house was, but the locals would purposely give them wrong directions
>GOAT>peaked only when he played with Neil
>>130346657his albums are not a good showcase of his playing skills, you would want a live recording for that. he always held back in the studio.
>>130338642people skills account for a lot. if you can't work with record executives, producers, your manager, etc...clearly Neil had something Steve didn't in that regard
>>130333368perfect album

>>130350344*in*It is funny that when he plays with big names, he always gets overshadowed.https://youtu.be/_rOtpAP-FZc
>>130350366Like the time he tried to outsing Tom Joneshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dIDzA0YDso8&pp=0gcJCQQLAYcqIYzv
