You cannot name a single artist that can fill his spot in the industry.
MJ is dead. Who's going to be the next absolute chart topper? Drake is 39.
He'd have to willingly retire and still no artist can lace his boots.

Being an "absolute chart topper" means nothing anymore in the era of botted streams, which Aubrey blatantly does with all his slop. It's always "the most streamed album ever, every song is charting" every time he releases something and then nobody can name a song from it without googling within a week or two of release.
Drake will never be a true cultural icon like Kanye or Jay, which is why he seethes so hard at them and manipulates his numbers to look more successful than them on paper.
>>
>>130334604
Drake is objectively a bigger cultural icon than Jay. Only oldheads gaf about him anymore. Drake just cracked him on the album and you're coping. Kanye has been slipping since Vultures.
>>
>>130334129
U really cant. Koondrick has to be propped up by others his whole career. First Drake, then Dre, Drake again using beef instead of a guest spot. Jay for the super bowl, etc. Drake did it all on his own. Biggest rookie free agent in rap history. Dominated airwaves for years. Changed the game.

Well said. This is when Drake became him

drake would be nothing without wayne

Opened for Ice Cube and did that record before wayne saw he was generational talent. Koondrick fans cant help but cope.

When Drake finally retires, nobody will remember his slop, but they'll still remember Reasonable Doubt, The Blueprint and The Black Album. Thinking otherwise is just cope.

>Drake did it all on his own.
If Aubrey wasn't a famous Jewish TV star, his mixtapes would have struggled to reach double-digit downloads and he would have given up on rap by 2009.
>Changed the game.
Even with the existing fame, people would have lost interest in Drake quickly if Kanye hadn't released 808s for him to bite his whole style from. Aubrey never changed shit, he has always been a follower.

Are you really sure Jimmy from Degrassi did it all on his own?

Bobby Vinton and Andy Williams had hits too. Try and remember them though.

This will always be a bad argument. Nearly every work in history is derivative of something, takes from giants that came before. In any avenue the new is built on the pillars of people who came before. All great artists steal, Kanye did the same shit, hell people used to attack him just as much for his sampling. Critics panned Moby Dick when it was first published.
