Why did Disco fall off so quick? You would think with so many popstars at the time doing it, that it would have survived all the hate.
>>130335271Men don't like it and think it's gay. Men were the bigger consumers of music before the 20th century.
>>130335290Women were always the biggest consumers of music.
>>130335290Utter fucking retard.
>>130335290>Men were the bigger consumers of music before the 20th century. Why are clappers so ignorant of History?Disco wasn't in the 1800s.
Disco was propaganda
>>130335443For who?
>>130335271Synthesizers
>>130335471Gay acceptance
>>130335271Disco as a commercialized fad fell off quickly. Disco as an actual genre and scene continued to thrive and evolve without the validation of the pop charts.
>>130335538>>130335290Isn't EDM and rave pretty gay-adjacent? That's what ended up replacing Disco. If anything, Disco was probably a little less gay since they were dirty dancing with skinny babes back then.
>>130335271It evolved to postpunk, synthpop and house
>>130335290A disco album is the best selling album of all time my guy
>>130335718Sure, everything that isnt rock music is like that yeah
>>130335741>muh numbersseppuku quick
>>130335271Because it turned into a fad and people got fatigue, same reason why Dubstep was everywhere in 2011 then suddenly nowhere by 2015.
>>130335728No it didn't, Disco evolved into Boogie and Hi-NRG in the 80s, then again House and Nu-Disco by the late 90s.
>>130335271Although disco was a global phenomenon it was primarily spearheaded by blacks and gays, who obviously were not white and straight.

>>130335741Michael Jackson isn disco
>>130337547Only 2 out of 5 replies mention that?
>>130335271Disco was just early pop-music before synths and drum machines came around. Once technology caught up it evolved into 80's pop music.
>>1303358882008 is the most recent from that list and everything else was older, 18 years isnt that recent
>>130337854>Once technology caught up it evolved into 80's pop music. We can pinpoint the exact moment where it happened https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gHF-w8yGrHI
>>130337839I didn't say everyone said it, I just think its a waste and cringe for the people that don't bother using their brain to think about what a poster said and they just zero in on MINOR SPELLING MISTAKE or something similar
heavy commercial over saturation
Once Upon a Time...Disco had a reputation for being the genre of gay black men and as a result a bunch of rednecks gathered every disco record in town and burned them in a massive pile in the middle of a baseball stadium. The End.
>>130337939Ah yes, gay black men like The Bee Gees and ABBA. kys retard zoomer.
>>130338173They were seen as the exception you retard. You could argue they were instrumental in turning Disco into a more legitimate genre of pop but in the mid to late 70s it absolutely still had the reputation of being dance music for minority gay bars in cities like San Fransisco, especially amongst 70s rockists who had a chip on their shoulders, and by the time Disco finally shed itself of this reputation it was already too late.
>>130336180No problem son. And remember, it's just like your beloved vidya said: Winners don't use drugs.
Gays didn't listen to the same stuff as straight people anyway.
>>130335538I accept your homosexuality
>>130335718definitely. Any actually cool dance club that has good electronic music is always heavily attended by gay people. Most music scenes where drugs/partying are a key element end up attracting a pretty wide variety, a lot of different types of people who all have this one thing in common: they like to get fucked up to this sound. It ends up building stuff like PLUR etc. It's also a race thing too, black people were at the start of house music and disco. I wasn't around when all this went down so I'm speaking out of my ass, but I always figured it was largely discrimination against gays/blacks that led to disco dying. Alongside just rockists who didn't like seeing a pop culture shift away from their precious guitar solos and shithttps://youtu.be/NWCRu-yVEFU
>>130335271It's pretty limited aesthetically, like early rock 'n roll. It just ran its course and then morphed into something else.

>>130335271The most overplayed genre in the history of popular music that I'm surprised it didn't die sooner. Anything that is overhyped, overplayed in the media and extremely mediocre won't last. To say that it "fall off so quick[ly]" is an understatement because people back then don't have the luxury of the internet to discover new music so they're stuck with cooperate executives pushing an already tired music to the public. If disco lasted maybe 5 years instead of 10, the hate wouldn't be so severe.

>>130335728>>130335808you are both right.one about the influences of disco, the other about the actual subculture.
