Not saying much.

Not saying much. Also, I doubt that because there was nothing interesting about those links you posted.
I would unironically rather bump this:

You don't seem to understand. Iceman made the RYM hivemind irrelevant. You lost.

Give your man another Pulitzer prize, give him a Fantano strong 9, give him a Pitchfork Best New Music. Write a thinkpiece. It doesn't matter. You're all going down on the same ship. It's over.

Iceman won.

This. The album is so obviously not a 2 or a 4.8 and will still succeed viciously so it just hurts whatever credibility fantano and pitchfork have left. Its actually sad how fantano used to be a tastemaker turning people on to new stuff. Now, his main goal seems trying to express the opinion that won't get him cancelled. He hasn't the same since that stupid article about how he was alt-right associated

He also says "Triple S was really to show you my love, and make sure you're good till the next time we meet up"
Triple S being in reference to his previous collab album with PartyNextDoor $ome $exy $ongs 4 U, which was the last thing he released before Iceman. "Next time we meet up" would either be whatever he ends up doing next as an independent artist after the end of his UMG contract, or the other two albums he released alongside Iceman, which people would probably be checking out afterwards.
>>
>>130360719
>>130360739
oh
>>
>>130360958
Was trying to think what it was that threw me about the idea that $$$4U is for the women

Obviously he's singing to women on those songs. If I imagined those "yous" were aimed at me, I'd have to be gay

But on the other hand, here on Iceman he's talking ostensibly directly to his enemies. The idea that he only wants those people listening to the music is nonsense, obviously.

So obviously there's a kind of kayfabe "this song is for the ladies" and a reality that it's made as art for a general audience. We are all watching a performance of "Drake sings to his lover", and it's a compelling piece of music.

But there are a lot of people who take the performance literally. "Are you gay? This song is for girls." It's unsettling to think how common this is... A lot of people can't step back and look at art from a critical perspective
>>
>>130361139
Yeah but on the other hand Drake fans enjoy pretending they're the girl and getting they bussies wet. Champagne Papi whispering in your ear through your headphones and you like it

>>130361139
Another fun track is Don't worry, which is a super sugary singing track where he brags about a girl showing up in all pink, and his buddies are drunkenly blasting sugary sweet party music like cardi b and playboi carti ("im sorry" because they dont get along anymore). And then he starts talking in the same happy melody how he wants to see her next guy struggling to make payments, missing payments, and begging on the pavement. I assumed he was talking about kendrick but it could be somebody else and it probably is a real person. Drake gets pretty disrespectful on this whole thing

Honestly yes, the only other Album I Really couldn't get enough of was Act II.

Cole had a chance to drop it but kept fucking up same with YE.
>Kendrick just chose to write garbage and throwaways.

This album is complete you probably have a 18/18 and even if you are harsh you still end up with a 14/18 run. When was the LAST TIME that's happened?
In 2020s?
This might be it.

It's definitely a better album than the criticfags say. Only listened to it once through juicetube ads and shit, Iceman, is definitely a record he's been aiming to make, nails the approach, it's honed in on a feeling.
I'm also at the age where I'm gladly content with my Sean Price albums for this rap shit. But nah, it's a solid collection of joints.

Anon, Im curious, how would you rank Drake’s main catalog (including IYRT and More Life) excluding Iceman? For me its Views, IYRTITL, More Life, NWTS, Take Care, Scorpion, FATD, CLB, TML
>>
>>130367576
I got basically the same ranking, Take Care over NWTS, I think Scorpion gets a bad rap, but I'd throw in So Far Gone since that was the gamechanger, plus I recall how the atmosphere slightly changed when that dropped, SFG went hard af

I think if he condensed Scorpion down it would be a great album but for me both sides are like 5s, what did you like about Scorpion

I've listened like 10-15 times at this point. it's a concept album about the rap beef from a very personal angle. It's not a linear story but a landscape painting of the life of the biggest star and boss of the industry who got hit by a coordinated attempt by the envious masses to end his career and life. During this time, he lost hundreds of people he thought were his friends. They seemes to turn on him for no reason as he had actually dropped the ladder down to most of them.

In solitude with no one he can trust, he honed and sharpened his pen game to sub zero temperatures and became ICEMAN.

He emerges now, telling everyone who slighted him to fuck off and kill themselves. He craves poverty and suffering for anyone who slighted him.

There are themes that run throughout such as the deception of the music industry, the facades people make of themselves, and it is mocking and trolling these things... I'm kind of going on a tangent here but there's a lot to say

>>
>>130370886
>a landscape painting of the life of the biggest star and boss of the industry
Yes, that's an apt description of every Kanye album, but what does that have to do with Aubrey's latest slop?
>who got hit by a coordinated attempt by the envious masses to end his career and life
Drake ruined his own career by releasing nothing but god-awful slop for the past decade to game his streaming numbers, signing that horrendous deal with Lucian, putting on a hardened gangsta persona that's laughable coming from Jimmy Wheelchair from Degrassi, engaging in parasitic clout-chasing towards every up-and-coming rapper and scene and then throwing them away once he's leeched all the clout, and repeatedly starting beefs he couldn't win against actual rappers who could pick him apart lyrically. Nobody made him do any of this and he would have been just fine if he had stuck to being the soft bubblegum pop singer he always was.

Only listened to the album seven times before I noticed the point that Michael Jackson was also falsely accused of pedophilia

And the album releases just after a feel-good MJ biopic greenlit by the Jackson family to revive his reputation

Massive "fuck you" from Drake to all the liars and gossips of the world who though they could take down a king of pop again, working form the same playbook. Not only is he not dead, he's bringing back Michael too
