If music was "spiritual" or somehow otherwise transcended the material sound waves it actually is, then it (music) would ring home into every human being. You couldn't escape it any more than you could escape hunger or lust. Instead it's pretty easy to get bored of music like a child would get bored of a toy. That's basically all music is, a toy you put away when you get older.
