Why are music reviews so awful all the time without exception? Every time I read one I get the impression the writer didn't even listen to the album and is just saying shit.
>>130360077Music reviewers simply lack anything of substance to say, mostly because they tend not to be very intelligent and are too sensitive to consensus. See Anthony for example.
>>130360077It's considered embarrassing and gives the ick to really like something these days, so you have to be really whatever and nonchalant about anything you truly enjoy.
>>130360077Music is intangible and meant to be felt, not filtered into words.
>>130360077because most music critics are just cultural criticism in disguise, they get the references, the recognize the sound, they understand the history and fashion, they don't know how to tell you how it makes them feel really at all, let alone the technical aspects of the sounds they're hearing
>>130360077why use a random vidya OP pic that has nothing to do with the subject?
>>130360077What is there to claim about music, those were some ‘tasty guitar notes’, i honestly think that is an achewood cartoonist’s boondoggle though, cause a write could spend a half an hour just talking about guitar distortion which traditionally was important, guitar distortion was, to shock the bourgeois, and comparing the distortion between bands, what impasse has criticism come to when distortions roars and the wolf’s tone of gossiped about bands like angine de poitrine go appreciated by the decrepit british weeklies and what pass as journalism state side which is mostly blog posts and images shared so much between twitter tumblr imgur and reddit that those images gain a sort of cannonicity, such is the state of journalism today
