I can’t tell the difference between post-hardcore and metalcore.
>>130360111>post-hardcoreI Brought You My Bullets You Brought Me Your Love>metalcoresounds like Djent; closer to stuff like Mick Gordon
>>130360111you can't tell the difference between at the drive in and killswitch engage?
>>130360111If you were to be technical and pedantic, you could argue that metalcore is actually a form of post hardcore since it isnt straightforward hardcore punk like what came before it so in theory it could be considered post hardcore which is why it can be confusing to separate the two but not all post hardcore is metalcore. Post hardcore is hardcore punk but a bit more experimental than just short songs, fast and angry tempos, lyrics about politics and getting fucked up, and punk rock but faster, louder, shorter, angrier and noisier. It started in the late 70s, early 80s and has roots in punk rock. Metalcore incorporate more metallic elements into hardcore punk, more chugs, more breakdowns, and a heavier more aggressive sound (ie hatebreed, converge, earth crisis, deadguy, killswitch engage) both genres have different decades which sound different from the other sounds of post hardcore or metalcore. The 00s is when they shared a lot of similarities, clean singing, breakdown chug riffs, similar production, sharing some scene aesthetic too.
>>130360111metalcore has mostly harsh vocals. post-hardcore has mostly whiny emo bitch vocals. that's about it.
>>130360318KSE is melo metalcore thoughVery different from pure metalcore records like Zao output or Arkangel for example
post hardcore is way more punk, metalcore is way more metal
back in my days, post hardcore was anything interesting and innovative, while metalcore was just Slayer songs but played in jogging suits
