To the anon roasting drummers he didn’t appreciate on a thread a few weeks ago, No Nick Mason wasn’t just playing the same 4/4 beats over rick’s drone and gilmour’s solos. He was constantly switching time feels from straight to swung, 4/4 to 3/4, 6/8 and doing grand fills between all this. He’s a good drummer. Not Keith Moon but played for the song
>>130369391his fills are pretty generic and clumsy
>>130369412Define clumsy

>>130369391He's like the Ringo of prog rock, short on technical flash but quietly consummate and brandishing an iconic personal style. His playing is very fluid and effortless, gliding through changes with deceptive simplicity and complimenting Floyd's compositions perfectly. This is especially evident in live recordings. "Playing for the song" is such a cliched thing to say that always seems a little like faint praise, but there is a quality of tasteful restraint that guys like Nick and Ringo posses that most drummers recognize and respect but some midwits who measure drumming talent solely in brute speed and precision simply can't seem to appreciate. The man was no slouch.
>>130369391>orders a pie>asks for no crustwhat was wrong with him?
>>130369391Overrated shit drummer
i dont listen to pink floyd post some musicno money tho
>>130369391Hes great. Plebs will never understand restraint or grooves that service the song
>>130370907lol thats all that plebs listen to tho
>band made some non 4/4 songs>"oshit ofuck i can't do this helpppp"
>>130372962thats not what dotted means
>>130369391None of the Pink Floyd band members were any kind of jazz-fusionesque technical wizards or anything like that, they all came from a psych rock background. So why do people single out Nick as if everyone else wasn't similarly limited? The whole appeal with Pink Floyd is the less-is-more approach that they took out of necessity but made work
>>130373186mason is definitely the only floyd member that you could swap with anyone else and it wouldn't make the band worse or lose identity
jesus no one has posted any music?fuk u
>>130373227Not really. Nick is incredibly limited technically, but always manages to pull the most tasteful groovy shit you've ever heard out of his ass. Anyone even slightly better would probably ruin it
>>130373243so uh post some music
>>130373249Okhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8pEjmZVx3k
>>130369391i hate keith moon, his drumming is legit annoying, just cut through the sound of the band acting like it's the supposed lead instrument. even townshend said he enjoyed playing live better when he's no longer around.
>>130373279lol ok chud sucker
>>130373261this sounds a lot like "get out of the way" drummingnot like, i got a cool groove, but more like 'oh everyone else is so much more important than me" drumming
>>130369391Wasn't he the guy who had to get Jeff Porcaro to fill in for him because the groove got too difficult?
>>130369493played by nick mason
>>130372962At that point he didn't care enough to bother, the band was collapsing.
>>130373261https://voca.ro/16dnZfIPTQ15 a coverI love Pink Fluid. I member when I was listening to DSOTM to sleep. I'd drift off in the middle and get assblasted by the alarm clocks in Time, ending up listening again. The most astonishing part to me was that heartbeat at the end - mine has synced with the track. Freaky.
