What happened to Britain??? Those assholes used to be one of the most reliable countries for music in the world from like the late 60s-early 10s and they've just been spiraling downward in basically every category since then. Black Shidi made an okay debut then their schizophrenic skronk guitarist left to go commit suicide quietly and they became shit. BCNR's early singles showed promise but they got into Arcade Fire and became what their heroes were and still are: SHIT. Squid can lick the dried semen from my toilet bowl.

Anyone know any decent British bands that isn't Brixton-Bollocks Jazzer faggotry? If you suggest Fakemink or Maruja I might harm someone.

Mush and Tulpa, successive bands of the same lead guitarist, Leeds slacker/angular rock band

Finally some decent British rock music. And of course it had to be some northerners stepping up to the plate to deliver the goods as usual. I'm more taken towards Mush than Tulpa on a cursory glance. I think that there are certain things that British bands can do much better than Americans, and "angular" style is definitely one of them. We have our moments with stuff like No Wave but there will never be an American The Fall.

I will say, the best British rock I've been keeping up with in recent years have been Index for Working Musik and Fat White Family, who've been in the London scene for a while but have been getting noticeably better with each release.
