>reeeeeee led zeppelin stole their songs from bipoc!
Okay, but did jiggaboo jones and his shoelace tied to a plank of wood write the 7 minute long electric guitar solo?
If they just changed the title and lyrics of their songs you would never be able to tell they were supposed to be covers

they didnt rip off that much, it has a lot of unique sections. Not even Spirit - Taurus is that similar to Stairway
>>
boy, critics hated them back then. what's funny is they weren't even doing anything that different from their peers when they first started in '69, everyone was doing some kind of blues rock thing back then

Zeppelin were super over the top and appealed to teenage boys with their theatrics. There's nothing wrong with that, it's what 50s R&R was. Problem was the first gen rock critics were all 20-something guys who had grown out of that kind of music and had more adult tastes, so they didn't dig what Zeppelin were doing. The fact that they grew up on Elvis and Jerry Lee was immaterial, they weren't 14 anymore and were simply too old for music targeted at teenagers. They all upboated singer-songwriters and more adult-sounding rock musicians instead.

Like this.

Yes just like that. TRSA was a more classy, grown up version of LZII but it's otherwise a very similar 1969 blues rock album with a lot of the same themes.

Dazed & Confused is their biggest ripoff, it's just straight up a stolen song, but they stole it from another white person
>>
>be Robert Plant
>grow up and put childish things behind you
>make tasteful folk and world music albums with Allison Krauss 'n sheet
>make your home in hipster capital Austin, Texas
>your retarded fans just wants to hear blues buttrock for manchildren to listen to to feel virile and pumped

>take a half century year old blues riff and turn it into a multi-part rock epic
>"this is literal hecking genocide!"
>take a sample of the blues riff and repeat it in production for 3 minutes then talk over it
>"what a bold transformation! peak production"

>world music
>tasteful
you also think airport gift shop souvenirs are tasteful?

all throughout the 70s critics consistent shit on any musician that young teens mostly listened to because they weren't quite self-aware enough to realize they were too old for buttrock cheese like Ted Nugent or KISS. they mostly liked stuff that the college crowd and adult hipsters were into.

well it's just a lazy take in general

repurposing old songs is incredibly common in all genres, it's the entire basis of some.

Zep took some riffs from old black blue artists and wrote Lord of the Rings-ian progressive folk rock around them...

Folk always was Plant's thing since STH, Page was the blues buttrock guy.

Actually, the most egregious examples of Led Zeppelin plagiarism were when they stole from other white people, like Dazed and Confused from Jake Holmes, Black Mountainside from Bert Jansch, and Tangerine which Jimmy stole from own his own former bandmate.

>If they had done something original instead of stealing then you would never tell that they stole it
Your observational skills are quite sharp, aren't they?
