Current tally:
>>130400409Falkenbach - magni blandinn ok megintíristraddles that line between genres but i think it has enough clean singing to count
>>130400766alright i'll give it a whirl. cool album art, too.
>>130400399Minimalist art is my passion

riot is the best trad metal band of all time
BLASTIN'https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IKshRnuByQo
>>130401071makes the cut, there's only one song here (#2) that is predominantly harsh vocals, and some of these songs don't even have any.
>>130401071
Got myself a copy of this. For the most part single-minded speed riffery - above average and great fun, but I got it for this goofy anthem:https://youtu.be/nNoeUDmpM3k
>>130400409The era of shitty computer generated graphic art replacing the soulful cover art of the 1970s-early 90s.
https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=mgqfGWz4UzE>Sex Religion>Sex Religion Machine>Let me feel your body burnHow does the rhyme in the chorus work? Does it rhyme? And what is a 'sex religion machine' anyways? I'm not sure but I guess it sounds vaguely cool.
>>130400409Elegy - Manifestation of FearHoly Mother - Toxic RainSeer's Tear - Precious
>>130400399Maiden brought out INFINITE DREAMS today in Greece! LESGOO
>>130401071The best debut album out therespeed metal reigns supreme
>>130403801counted all three>Seer's Tear - Preciouswas actually going to listen to this one last month lol, but i couldn't find a great copy of it
>>130401071a step down from state of mind but still very good. seconding.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E0SRnHZtTH4https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DLEyZlSbfCEhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4Rl9j5SO1Q
>>130400399Goated album
>>130405945it's the only maiden album i consider one of my all-time favorites tbdesu. somewhere in time's pretty damn close too, but i feel it's just a bit too inconsistent in the first half.alexander the great is my favorite maiden song though
Decent French powerprog, worth a go for fans of Symphony X, Royal Hunt or Elegy. Good Coverdale-ish vocals from Pink Cream 69's David Readman and some great guitar playing even if the leads are a bit derivative of Malmsteen in parts.
>>130400399
>>130403150here's a modern band doing that whether you asked or notwww.youtube.com/watch?v=_yTURU3mfS4
>>130400399I can't wait to see these guys live along with Megadeth in September.
I'd love to know how true metalheads felt like in the late 00s when all this numetal butt rock alt rock shit finally died.
>>130407145Melodic Metalcore replaced it which was awful in its own way.
>>130407145>>130407162which was worse?
>>130407246I suppose Nu-Metal because it's false, although Melodic Metalcore was so fucking wussy. Nu-Metal could at least be fun.
>>130407145True metalheads love nu butt grunge, John Arch's favorite band is Silverchair
Between Turbo and Somewhere in Time, I think Turbo is the better album, and SiT is Maiden's weakest album, and I rank No Prayer For the Dying above it in the band's discography.
>>130400409Pain of Salvation - One Hour By the Concrete Lake
>>130407375interesting. could you elaborate on why?
>>130406381You're right, similar approach. Plus Klaus Meine vocals.>>130403742Not familiar with that VS phase. Were they trying to become Mötley Crüe? Or was it an attempt at parody?Anyway, it's got that awful production, before Loudness but similar ear fatigue effect.
Why did Queensryche break out into mainstream popularity while these guys struggled? They both started out with a similar power metal sound but I think Queensryche pivoted into more MTV friendly territory whereas Fates Warning remained true to a power metal sound.
>>13040764480s Queensryche just outright had better songs than period Fates Warning and Crimson Glory
>>130407375Caught - amazing intro and solo section, neat atmosphere, but a bit repetitive and overlong, 7Wasted - some of Maiden's best pop metal, classic solo, 9Sea - underrated song, I enjoy the awkward rough-and-tumble of the verses which I think hurt it for many, and the bridge is sublime, 10Heaven - terrible vocal melodies but excellent instrumental bridge, 7Loneliness - one of their most melodic songs and the passion makes the repetition feel deliberate in a good way, 8Stranger - borders on AOR with another classic Smith solo, 9Deja Vu - kinda fillery, cool Dave intro but the song itself is too simple even for its already shorter length, 7Alexander - the actual peak of Maiden's dual leads, 10Turbo - classic, 9Locked - excellent, a bit urgent, 8Private - fun hard rock, 7Parental - not a fan of "hello fellow kids" songs especially with Halford's weird sneery punk affection going on, 4Rock - fun pop rock, 6Out - the equivalent to Maiden's Stranger, cold atmospheric AOR-ish excellence, 9Wild - fun pop rock, 6Hot - totally overlooked gem, energetic, pre-chorus bursting with energy the synth effects on the solos sound almost alien, maybe my favorite on the album, 10Reckless - classic, 9Tailgunner - weak chorus and the lyrical theme a bit of a rehash, but still memorable and very enjoyable, 8Holy - goofy but enjoyable, 7No Prayer - excellent and a little outside the norm, 9Public - enjoy the rowdiness and aggression, some amazing melodies from Dave, 9Fates - one of their weirder songs that people don't seem to recognize, and Janick's solo is sublime albeit brief, 9Assassin - goofy but underrated, one of their more musically involved songs, could have fit in a King Diamond album, 8Run - has potential but a bit disjointed with some strained vocal melodies, 6Hooks - guilty pleasure, always loved this, 9Bring - trashy but catchy, 7Mother - not a "true" epic but riffs and shreds, 10SiT is the clear winner, but all three are great
>>130406240Underworld is even better.
>>130401071This album is so generic and lame. It's like it was created by AI.
>>130411484correct. axel rudi pell sucks ass in general
>>130407813i dont understand rating hot for love higher than turbo lover or out in the cold.
>>130407602>Not familiar with that VS phase. Were they trying to become Mötley Crüe? Or was it an attempt at parody?apparently it was trying to be more blues inspired according to the band leader.>Anyway, it's got that awful production, before Loudness but similar ear fatigue effect.here's an alternate mix from them:https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=WKf6niLvcPA
>>130407375That might just be the weirdest take out there.
>>130407813>Caught - amazing intro and solo section, neat atmosphere, but a bit repetitive and overlongWish it was longer
>>130407813Private Property is a Libertarian anthem. It's based.

Are there specifically any Doom Metal festivals worth attending in the USA? I see Death Metal fests all the time which I would love to attend (I feel like shit having just missed Maryland Death Fest again) but I barely ever see Doom Fests advertised at all in the USA. I guess there's Desertfest in NYC but it's just Stoner Rock by and large, not so much my style.

>>130401071I don't get the hate. This is top tier power/speed.
>>130425407It's catchy, but once you've heard one song, you've heard them all.
>>130425580Same can be said about beloved bands like AC DC and Motorhead.
>>130425911I don't think anybody under the age of 60 loves AC/DC. Motorhead has awesome riffs, so it's excused.
>>130425962My 14 year old son loves them.
>>130426063He'll grow out of it. Peak diaper rock.
>>130425962AC/DC hate is peak midwit
>>130401071substantially better than their 1976 debut. there's still a few lesser songs but the highlights (doomsday, on wings of love, mother nature's pride) are worth it. this record's also consistently heavier, too. on wings of love has riffing like a classic rainbow song and doomsday sounds like something off sad wings or sin after sin. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_l77B9xxhi_9U3lWhB5lk1982CIJLyb9N0
>>130425911>Same can be said about beloved bands like AC DC and Motorhead. It's not true about either of them. Both of them have songs that are unique compared to their other songs.Yes, they have a niche, but they do stray from it sometimes.>>130425962I have AC/DC songs I like and I am in my 20s.
>>130425962I like both acdc and Motorhead. No one takes acdc's lyrics seriously it's not a fun silly rock band.
>>130407375based turbo lover
>>130401071https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dM6L3ghceFEThis kills posers
>>130404224I knew I wasn't the only greek here.
>>130428115>It's not true about either of them. Both of them have songs that are unique compared to their other songs. So does Sabaton. And Dragonforce. And every other band accused of "all their songs sound the same".
>pretty heavy album >one commercial, radio-friendly outlier songPicrel and "Go it Alone" is just one example. Not that these songs are bad but has this strategy EVER worked?
