You should be buying all your shit used anyways.
You can easily get Custom Shop guitars for the same price as a new Ultra II or Ultra Luxe.
For the MSRP of a Vintera III you can get an American Vintage II.
I'll never understand people who buy new guitars, but I will forever thank them for all the free discounts.

Getting a brand-new, still in factory box, virgin guitar that no one has ever played before is an experience you should have, Anon. In Canada we call that "popping the cherry" because when you pop the case open the first time it smells vaguely of cherries.

I looked at a CS tele for half off msrp and it had a ton of hidden defects. I would definitely recommend paying the full price every time. Some sucker bought a lemon.

Enjoy your used up frets. When I buy a guitar, I want to know that it can still take 2-3 refrets.
Buying any guitar is a horrible experience. I hate buying new guitars, I hate the anxiety before it arrives to check how the fretwork is, how the neck is, if the hardware has any faults. I even went to a store once, but I can't check it properly there, because they don't allow you to work the truss rod, etc.

Are amps really a necessity? Want to buy a bass but an amp would just make the cost too high, also could I just use a guitar amp (they're cheaper)?
>>
>>130419693
you'll run the risk of blowing up your speaker from what i've heard since guitar amp's speaker isn't meant to produce such a low sound
>>
>>130419693
Dont run your bass through a guitar amp they just arent made for it, even if you dont blow the speaker it wont sound right.
>>
>>130419693
Yes, they are worth it. Just remember to do some basic maintenance, like exercising the knobs (rotating them thru the full sweep) every few weeks, getting a dust cover depending on the environment, keep it right-side-up (feet down), plug it into the wall and not off an extension cord or power bar, and keep it dry. Do all that and it will last a lifetime.

Your problem is trying to play songs without learning the basics first. I can see you there, sloppily going through that snippet, without a metronome, with more tempo changes than a math-rock song.
Go through any of the hundreds of available "zero to beginner" courses. Absolutely Understand Guitar doesn't teach you the basics, i.e. how to play the guitar. It's for music theory.

>>
>>130420651
Not really. I used some random book relatives bought me. That was back in the early 2000s. I can't recommend it, because it was in German.
The thing is, any will do. Just do an internet search for "best book to learn guitar" and pick any that you see. The important thing is to stick to it and follow through. Spend a few months doing the books and you'll have a solid foundation. Also, don't be a retard and dismiss "YouTube videos". It's a hosting platform for videos, it doesn't affect the videos that are posted there. The JustinGuitar videos are hosted there for example. Just do those.

Instead of stretching to 5, recognize intervals and realize you can just play an open string on the next string up, 5 on D after the F on the low E would now be open G, 5 on D would be 1st fret on B (since B is only a 4th and not a 5th)

>>
>practicing to backing tracks
>still can't play

As soon as there's no accompanying part, I lose time. I can't even get the intro straight, despite adding hihat hits to help me keep time.
Switching to the part starting at bar 66 is impossible. I tried adjusting the fingering and play the phrase on the 4th string, but no joy. I'm picturing how I'd play this in front of a crowd, fuck up and panic.

keeping time by yourself with no metronome, backing track, or bandmates is hard and unnecessary. no one cares if you're rushing when you are the only one playing

>>130423209
no
>>
>>130423266
there is a metronome app my teacher recommended that lets you customize each tick on/off. it's really useful for training yourself to get better at this specifically - keeping time for a few beats without a reference
>>
>>130423281
I just assumed it should be easy.
The problem is that backing tracks can't react to my playing and join in at the proper time. I just realized that I can use a footswitch to trigger sections, but that's just more workload. Such is life without friends...
>>
>>130423383
in a real performance, if the drummer drops out and you are truly soloing, you are in charge of time. the drummer will come in according to your time. keeping time with a robot is not necessary

Anyone have experience with these stage rights? I like my Katana mkIII but I got to play a used one at gc and while the spring tank was fucked I "got" the whole MUH TUBES shenanigans I see people talking about. On the other hand, I don't ever want to be a pedaltranny and the warm-up time is a bit of a let down. Also I would probably never take a 300$ amp to ever be properly biased unless the tubes blew out.

Isn't that a laney cub clone with a gain circuit copied from a marshall jcm? 270$ doesn't seem bad at all but if you're not going to get into pedals and just want a practice amp which you already have, I don't see the point.

LPs sweeten your tone by going out of tune over time, as long as you retune regularly you can get that slightly out of tune flavor without it sounding bad. The carved top also adds additional warmth.

Did you have to get a new tank or did the leads just need to be re-seated? It's odd yours had issues like the used one I played did. It's like it could only max out on 2 turning up the reverb but some of the used blues jr.'s in store could belt out fistful of dollars backing twang without an issue.

I almost made the mistake of selling my modified Squier Tele.

>great fretwork (low action without buzz)
>great chunky neck
>added p90 in the neck
>added graphite nut (graphtech)
>replaced the bridge, tuners and pickguard to all black (to fit with the body)
>replaced the pickup selector switch for a sturdy one
>redid the electronics
>replaced the pots for very smooth ones which need more effort to turn (can't do volume swells though)

It's better than my 1000$ guitar and was a third of that when I bought it.

Tube amps sound better because they are inherently more expensive to produce and usually have higher end speakers when in a combo.

Erm. Anon, a tuning fork doesn't actually TUNE your guitar, you still have to tune it yourself and the tuning fork just acts as a reference pitch. I do not know of any tuning fork which will automatically tune your guitar by tightening or loosening it for you.

Well, i will tell you despite your snarky tone of voice. The tuning fork imparts resonant vibrations to the guitar when you hit the fork and hold it against the bridge. Slowly twist the tuning machine head, and the string will come alive when it is in resonant vibration with the fork.
