How to get a good and sharp distorted tone on amp sims? For me, they always sound so dull and muddy with no definition no matter how I set the knobs. It always gets buried in the mix unless I crank the volume up.

>>130443934because you can take them in and out. adding mids in sounds like you stepped forward on the stage. your sound is front and center. taking the mids out lets someone else fill that spot. if you just have a mid-heavy tone the whole time you can't step out of the way you can only volume drop and that isn't as effective your tone loses all its balls

My practice is getting messy. Long time bass player, so I'm pretty fluent with my fingers. But as I'm learning guitar, I'm realizing I occasionally need a pick to get notes to sound more even. So now I'm playing the same stuff over and over with finger style, again with a pick, and once more with a thumb pick (I'm pretty dexterous with those). On some level I feel like it's necessary to improve all-around, but I also genuinely despise holding a pick.What do, gg? Say fuck it and stick to the fingers? Suffer through the learning curve? Not like I'm aiming to be a pro or anything.
