Do you prefer punk rock or thrash metal? Why?
>>130512616punk rawk baby
>>130512616the left side isn't punk, the right side isn't metal
>>130512616thrash metal because i like riffs
>>130512616melodic punk music > thrash metal > non-melodic punk music
>>130512810all music is melodic
>>130512844your mom was melodic last night
>>130512932nigga
>>130513056that's dad to you bucko
>>130512844Not rap. That shit sucks.
>>130513124He said music
>>130513124Yes even rap has melody. ISTG you niggers are stuck in the dark ages
>>130512616it's crossover / hardcore vs thrash, retard.
Punk rock because it doesn't require skill to make, just attitude.
>>130513261does a kerry king guitar solo really require skill to make
>>130513271A little, yeah. But >>130513261 Cretin from the Dayglo Abortions is one of the most underrated guitar shredders around and can blast through his solos live, fucked up out of his mind, and not fuck them up and they are a hardcore punk band.
>>130512616punk rock is fucking gay
>>130512616post hardcore
>>130513343>Dayglo Abortionsnice
>>130512616Both genres sold out, but at least punk still shows some life
>>130512616thrash metal actually has some testosterone
Thrash metal for what it evolved into, but if were talking about pure punk rock vs pure thrash metal then Punk Rock wins
>>130512616i prefer thrash metal, punk bores me
Thrash. Because punk was about fashion and I look silly when I try to dress up as something.
>>130512616Sid vicious was all image and zero talent. I still prefer punk rock over thrash metal. Thrash metal and metal in general can lean into iron maiden theatrical operatic kind of cartoonish delivery, punk rock is just shittier rock that somehow still sounds good.
>>130512616Depends. Some of my absolute favorite records are technically punk rock (picrel). But a lot of punk rock is just pure awful. I can listen to most thrash bands without cringing out. Thrash doesn't have as low lows but it also does't have as high highs as punk rock either.
Thrash Metal, for me it’s my favourite genre. It’s basically perfect as far as I’m concerned. I love Hardcore Punk (particularly D-Beat, Street Punk, UK82, Finncore stuff like that) I also love traditional heavy metal, NWOBHM, early power metal, i basically grew up on that stuff because it’s what my Dad and uncle would play. When I discovered Slayer, reign in blood, than hell awaits I was completely hooked. Personally I prefer the heavier side of thrash, so stuff like Kreator-pleasure to kill, Rigor Mortis -Rigor Mortis, Sadus Illusions, Blood Feast kill for pleasure, Sacrifice-torment in fire, Incubus Serpent temptations, stuff like that.
>>130513240people saying 'rap isn't music' just immediately shouts that they have shitty ears and don't know how to listen to shit lol
I prefer proper rock, not tryhard edgy bullshit
>>130515001I like how his wikipedia page straight up states that he was an incompetent musician (with sources to back it up)
>>130515233This is why I never bothered to listen to trash metal or most metal genres in general, look at those fucking titles. It sounds like something a 14 year old who thinks Lobo and Punisher comics are the peak of maturity would be inti
>>130515471Punk can be shit compared to Thrash or even as a standalone genre (although I like it) but Sid Vicious was literally just there to look the part. Most of the bass parts were recorded by the guitarist because Sid was dogshit at playing his instrument.
>>130512616Punk, because people who play it are slightly less annoying than thrash metalers.
>>130515495Lobo has a sense of humour. If you don't have a sense of humiur by 14 then you're the Punisher. It's like being a Weird Al Fan, really
>>130515531Yeah I know, I just think it's funny that he's so untalented that it is considered an objective fact that he sucked ass at making music. He has a biographical movie too that is just a straight up hit piece that basically ends with "then later he died of a heroin overdose lmao rest in piss".And I still unironically love his version of my way. There's a certain magic to that song when a genuinely pathetic loser sings it, this guy who tried to take on the whole world but failed spectacularly, and he actually was near the end when he sang it too. It's not really good in the sense that it is good music but it kind of unintentionally transcends itself, in the same way Kanye's Hitler song does.
>>130515589Idk man nobody actually reads superhero comics in my country (I was a Donald Duck enjoyer). Maybe it was a bad example, I'm just saying it sounds stupid and edgy
>>130512616punk because I like the songs more. punk songs are catchier than metal songs. not that there aren't catchy metal songs, Caught In a Mosh is a good example of a catchy metal song imo. I consider bands like Motorhead to be punk though, while some would probably call them metal. maybe they are pretty similar genres after allany metal chads want to throw me some recs? I never seek out the stuff on my own
>>130512616the really question is who came first?thrash hardcore or thrash metal?
>>130515495Look at mr no fun allowed over here in his serious pants
>>130515813I don't really listen to music for fun, I mainly consume it as art or because I want to feel something.I'm also pretty miserable and stuck up so maybe I should just take off my pants and listen to some sillyness
>>130513258this
>>130515785First mention of thrash was some early 80s east coast (probably new york) hardcore compilation
>>130512844Someone should have told that to Brian Eno before he made 40 years of slop
>>130512616What kind of punk rock exactly? It's a very broad term. Thrash metal is a narrow genre influenced by hardcore punk. Like, early Metallica and Slayer records sound closer to hardcore punk than Sex Pistols records do. Hardcore punk band Drain is influenced by thrash metal in turn.
>>130515495I love both those characters. I also like action movies, pro wrestling, beer, and women with big tits.
>post punkvariety, pop influences, catchy, keyboards, arty>thrash metalnoise, but at least technically meritorious>punknoise
Identifying with a genre shows that you don't have any actual connection to music and it is just a fashion accessory to you.
>>130512616both are trash.if isn't derived from scotty moore, it's trash. pretty simple.
>>130516430OP just asked which genre between these two you prefer to initiate a discussion. Get off your high horse and stop trying to act superior.
>>130516596I'm not acting
>>130516381>>post punk>variety, pop influences, catchy, keyboards, artyThat's because "post punk" is actually post prog. They all ripped off the sounds of prog bands but paid lip service to "punk" because punk is not a music genre it is a fashionista psyop.
>>130516877!!!!!!
>>130515844>ugh, le FUN? fucking pleb shit, i prefer huffing my farts to FEEL something>btw i'm miserablekek, tale old as time
>>130517598really AWESOME reaction image dude your tranime pedophile hobby was definitely needed in this conversation thank you for inserting your porn addiction in this thread no really thank you
>>130512616blues rock
>>130517686
>>130512616metalpunk = poseur. no exceptions.
Thrash metal because they know how to play better. Some hardcore punk just sounds like thrash with no solos.
>>130515001he killed his gf what more do you want
Thrash because of cool riffs and fast solos. Only punk I like is the Ramones. Also punk today is gay as fuck.
>>130513258This and the correct answer to both is Suicidal Tendencies
>>130512616Punk is for colored dick enjoyers.
>>130512616First gen punk had a lot more imagination and variation. Thrash is a just predictable narrow style like punk eventually became with hardcore.
>>130512616Punk cause leaves space in the mix to dance to, and it can be more dynamic in its melodies like with Buzzcocks, the best UK punk band
>>130512616Both suck in 2026 but at least classic Metallica has normie appeal. Punk is just annoying at this late stage even though I liked the oldest stuff like the Pistols.
