Actual guitars beginners to intermediates should be playing these or similar;
Electrics
Ibanez Artcore AS53 - $400
Prs se ce 24 -$550
Ibanez RG 421 - $350
Yamaha Pacifica - $350

Acoustics/classicals
Yamaha fsx800 - $420
Yamaha cgx102 - $350
Yamaha fg800 - $260

Amps;
Boss Katana - $400
Vox Valvetronix vt40 - $400

Just wait 5 years and then buy yourself something that's $2000-4000 and spend ~1000-2000 on an amp and cabinet or combo

Do not fall for "intermediate" guitars in the ~$1000 range or amps in the ~$700-1000 range. Buy for beginning then buy for life. Simple as.

what would be the point in spending 2k on a guitar when the 500 dollar one works just fine

The difference in sound between a $500 acoustic and a $2000 one is enormous. With electrics it's more of just having a perfect one, without a lacquered sticky neck, with good intonation, with good tuners, with good pickups, with good pots, with a finish you actually like, with a good bridge, with good action. It's to be your guitar for life. Wasting money on intermediate instruments and compromises is just stupid. Skip that entirely because you'll always just think I wish I had had the real one. By the time you're good enough for it you should be making enough money to afford it comfortably anyway.
>>
>>130521714
I can play plenty songs well I'd say. It's just that playing a whole album from start to finish (while standing) is such a rush fee things really compare to it. And I can't think of any.

>>
>>130521720
Price is snake oil for guitars, at least electric. Can't speak on acoustic but seriously, how is a 2-3k Gibson better than an epiphone? Especially since it comes with the same issues like badly cut nut, frets uneven or sticking out etc. For that amount of money you can have a guy custom build you a guitar exactly to your preference rather than trying your luck with a big brand production model.

>>130521720
the only reason the difference between 500 and 2k is enormous is because you're ruling out the 1k price point. the difference between a 1k guitar and 2k guitar is fucking nothing at all whatsoever. 1k, MAYBE 1300 should be the cut off for anyone looking for a nice gigable guitar that they won't have to dick around with for the forseeable future. the only thing you get for 2-4k are boomers making them by hand with no oversight that you'll fight with for fucking 8 months to get a refund or a working guitar. it's literally swindling.

This is common knowledge. Although a lot of the hate in the acoustic world does come from the norlqn era when they overbraced during the 70s and 80s. Their goal was to make the guitars durable but in doing so they made them sound like ass. That reputation has carried on to today.
>>
>>130522267
>both of which will be better made.
As long as the Gibson is good quality, I think at that point you're more concerned with tone of the guitar.
>>130522440

>>
>>130522235

>>
>>130522566
Gigging with an uber-expensive guitar is dumb since they're infinitely more likely to get damaged than in the studio.
>>130522440
I've heard their QC has gotten a lot better.
>>
As someone who's never done mixing before, is mixing something that's applied universally to every instrument in the song or do you go by each instrument and mix them independently of each other?
>>
>>130522576
People will get a single bad copy and say the qc is bad
>>
>>130522576
these gigging musicians also use the same guitars in their studio recordings.
>>
>>130522605
>these gigging musicians also use the same guitars in their studio recordings.
Definitely not all of them. The more expensive your acoustic generally the better it'll sound
>>
>>130522611
absolute bullshit and i think you know it. you literally can not quantify "better sounding" past a certain point as it's subjective and nearly everything you've ever liked was played on cheaper instruments than you think and the only reason they're expensive now is because someone did a thing before that sounded nice and now that subjective sound is sought after. that's literally it. i know you know this and are just arguing for the sake of it, but i want to declare that you are wrong because it will make you seethe.
>>
>>130522587
you have separate tracks. you can record any number of instruments to each track. one instrument per track is common. mixing is mashing those tracks together into the final sound. EQ and stuff is applied to each track separately when you mix them
>>
>>130522605
>>130522566
The standard martin is a d28 and they're $3500 new and $2k used, the fuck are you even talking about. Nobody plays the shitty laminate martins
>>
>>130522623
You would be right about electric guitars but not acoustic ones.
>>
>>130522623
>you literally can not quantify "better sounding" past a certain point as it's subjective
Nah you're right I won't argue.
In terms of getting the most texture out of every string in a chord, I think this can be quantified because woods will 100% sound better in that regard but overall it depends on what you want it to sound like.
>>
>>130522668
For me I hate martins and love taylors. I like the note separation and hifi sound. Martins are too bass heavy and sound muddy to me. I've tried their 000s and I still dislike the sound even with that shape.

they cut him loose after the chapman brand became associated w scamming people and now they just invite him in once a year to keep up appearances
>>
>>130524516
but they've probably played a wider variety of guitars than 99.9% of players. who better to compare axes?
>>
>>130524632

>>
>>130524570
they're not going to stock things unless they're at least half-decent. you don't see em reviewing glarrys for instance
>>
>>130524638
stop saying I suck I don't suck I'm really good and I'm a forced to be reckoned with when I want to be so you better watch your mouth before I close it for you chump. Run away little girl
