i am solely recording my guitars in stereo from now on. what is the point of a mono signal if im just using stereo processing on the audio tracks anyway
reminder to make your green goblin mode remix and post it here to become youtube famous like this guy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AxJsSmty-iM
add the battery folder to your sidebar in ableton ctrl+f the name of the kit. drag in to drum rackiirc those kits were barely organized anyway.
>>130605619Song is a banger. So I can make nice sounding pieces, but nothing that interest me, or is like music I would want to dance/rock out to. I struggle with drums/rhythms (I hate making drums), but I think my melodies are good. Also just production techniques. Any advice on what I should focus on?
>>130606469>Any advice on what I should focus on?fixing the things you're bad at. and highlighting the things you're good at.maybe
isnt sidechain compression a crutch
>>130606766Yes, unless you're Thomas Bangalter.
>>130606766if you’re using it to cover up mistakes then yeah no shitif you know what you’re doing then no
https://voca.ro/1eozXJoOObZINot gonna post this one again but this was the stoner thing I worked on last night and this morning
>>130606766Its used in every modern production
I've reached the age where nothing feels new or exciting :(
>>130607199>citation needed
>>130607218you can choose to pursue enthusiasm and being open minded to new sounds. nothing to do with age.youth is a mindset
>>130606766How so
>>130607229There aren't any new sounds, or not new classes of sounds at least
>>130602793I like that Drum Rack labels the parts of the kit in the piano roll, which Battery 4 does not do, but I like Battery 4's built in modifiers. Ableton's External Instrument device almost works, but doesn't get there. It's fine in the end, I'll just convert one Batt kit per day - they're really nice.
>>130607494Whoops.
>>130607391what i said stands. nobody is going to convince you to be excited and it would be a waste of time trying to if you’re not receptive.
>>130607494i am seething. please learn your tools i hate you
>>130607592Don't be weird.
>>130607494you can just fill the drum rack with batteries then adjust the play notes and the choke, rename each pad if you want too. that way the pads are triggering the same pads / playing the same notes inside battery and the drum rack
in espanyol, los drumas are llamaed as las baterias , si?
>>130608351asi es. especially when referring to the drums as a set.
>>130607494> I like Battery 4's built in modifiers
https://vocaroo.com/1fACZ02mXfmg>house>deepcurrent WIP
>>130609028Doesn't go hard enough but is obviously very competent.
>>130609028In my own personal tastes, the snare replaces the kick too much. I'd blend them upstream of the kick processing and/or give them more distinct spectral domains. But I could be talking out of my ass, do as you must.
>>130606766it’s literally the foundation of modern mixing, studio and live
>>130609028That's kinda up my street but I don't like the voice sample
>>130605663isn't the pickup from your guitar a mono signal?
>>130610569I dont care
>>130610806Lol have fun with phasing issues
>>130605619daw for making REAL rock music? Reaper? Luna? Cubase?
So apparently the Universal Audio Apollo interfaces physically alter their internal electronics depending on the plugins you load onto the mic inputs. How much of a game changer is this? I currently only have a Shure SM57 mic and a Scarlett 2i2; I'm debating whether I should spend around $1200 on a new mic or a new interface.
>>130610989bruhmic is instantly going to be a much different sound and offer a wider pallet.
not sure if anons are ragebaiting fishing for the right answer or just retarded. it's best not to engage because it's only good if they can't even figure out the basics so there will be less competition for you and they're not going to give you helpful advice in return anyway so there's no incentive for you to share advice with them.
>>130611272>being scared of people who can’t figure out the most basic shitno wonder you’re so obsessed with trying to get an edge with hardware lmao
>>130611308making music is laughably easy for someone who's talented. it's like most people don't even know 2+2=4, some people know it but they don't know 2^3=8, etc etc, so it *should* be scary that everyone and their mother is making music, even former celebrities like pixie lott and cara delevingne are shitting out music and they should in theory have million dollar budgets but somehow can't produce good music, so luckily music production is still being gatekept so that only people who are talented have a real chance of success.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FnBBQon4Xuofor example this literal who got both xzibit and ice t, formerly huge celebrities featured on his track
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHHPGNCjFHMfor example this is dave grohl's daughter
>>130611348Oh yeah? Well, fucking anyone and everyone is laughably easy for your mother, but I wouldn't call her talented.
>>130611462ebin
>>130611348>only people who are talented have a real chance of successIf you have no success, what makes you believe you have any talent?
>>130611852i'm enlightened beyond your comprehension, you're an ant who doesn't know about the world beyond your little ant stuff. it takes very little effort for me to acquire a magnifying glass and burn you with the sun shining through it. i don't need to physically perform the action of using the magnifying glass just to know that i can do it. it's inane childish thinking to demand immediate results without allowing time for learning and to physically build a studio etc.
>>130611955How do you know it's not just wishful thinking?
>>130612069there are objective things that you could be doing but you don't even show any awareness of, if you did those things then i could acknowledge that you have somewhat of a clue even if you're not successful, but you're not exploring those things with any depth, you want someone to handhold you through every step of the process, it's like you're not even solid with primary school math while the top tier producers are doing some phd type shit with differential equations and whatever, and i objectively understand just about anything that's relevant to music production and i can easily learn anything to fill in the gaps, so i see how vastly more talented i am than dumbfuck amateurs who can noodle on the guitar but they're like astronomically shittier than john mayer, and those dumb fucks think they know enough to accuse me of being untalented, it's laughable
>>130612169You said it yourself: no talent, no success. So in your own logic, no success, no talent.
>>130612264that's how logic works lmfaoyou're showing yourself how objectively retarded you are with basic logic and math and this retardation carries over to music as wellfor example a racing driver could be talented but not been picked up by a top tier formula 1 team yet but a random dumb fuck amateur wannabe racing driver sure as hell won't get into formula 1, even if you have vast amounts of money to buy a seat you still have to be a well above average driver and you'll still likely get into a mid tier team at best
*that's NOT how logic works lmfao
>>130612300>for example a racing driver could be talented but not been picked up by a top tier formula 1 team yet but a random dumb fuck amateur wannabe racing driver sure as hell won't get into formula 1Nothing proves you you're the first one and not the second one. Yet. What gives you confidence in yourself?
>>130612449i've been mogging you numerous times but you're too retarded to see it, there's no value in proving anything to (You) anyway, you don't even understand that top tier artists like taylor swift are good, from my perspective it's absolutely clear that i'm a genius but it's obviously going to be less clear from a brainlet outsider's perspective, you should get a life anyway and worry about your own success instead of worrying about me
you can list all the popular subjects within math like algebra, geometry etcyou can do the same with different things within music productionan average joe can pass the basic school subjects but it's not like they're a genius wizard. the things like algebra, geometry etc are well-known for anyone who cares to learn about them. but some people are extreme brainlets who don't want to learn and even if they want to learn they can't get both the depth and breadth within these subjects to become a top tier award winning mathematician. it's the same with music, none of the individual elements are truly out of reach unless you're a profoundly untalented brainlet.
>>130612618>from my perspective it's absolutely clear that i'm a genius but it's obviously going to be less clear from a brainlet outsider's perspectiveConsider the following: I could as well be the genius and you the brainlet. There's no way you could tell the difference.
>>130612752you're literally behaving like the stupidest idiot i've ever seen in my life, you're still complaining about basic things like there are no new sounds because you don't have a nuanced appreciation of what you can do with sounds, you would have had to keep up an act of being retarded for years which is a retarded waste of time so you're not a genius either way
>>130612797Why are you always making all those things up? I never complained about any of that and never commented about Taylor Swift or any other celebrity either.
>>130612912nice gaslighting, you have a pattern of pretending not to be the same person to avoid accountability like you got caught using a very specific boomer humor gif in /gg/ and /classical/, you don't have the mathematical appreciation of how absurdly improbable it would be relative to how few active users there are on 4chan for two different people to use an obscure gif with the same filename
anyway regardless of who you are, it's ridiculous that you think you could just happen to be a genius when you make such basic logical errors as in >>130612264. you're just being petty and wishing for me to be unsuccessful to feel better about yourself. if you're a true genius you should have seen signs that you can just do well at things effortlessly without even trying, teachers should have told you that you're extraordinarily talented etc.
>>130613063Man, anonymous imageboards are bad for your mental health, you should spend less time here. Conveniently bending reality to make it dit your worldview is definitely not healthy.
>>130613145https://youtu.be/WofFFHHushY?is=nUJiO-GMz38NWCh3
>>130613169you have the literacy of a third worlder, but keep doubting my talent if that helps you sleep at night, it's only good if retards like you make music so that any talented people will be discouraged from making music themselves because the music space looks overcrowded

>>130616307i think he's underage because his brain isn't working like a mature adult. how to record a guitar is one of the most widely understood things and he doesn't need to reinvent the wheel. you'd have to go out of your way to look at people shilling stereo microphones to get the impression that it's reasonable to record guitars in stereo.
>>130617557who said anything about a microphone? it's a DI signal and an amp sim
>>130617557>actual fucking retard doesnt know that its standard procedure to record an amp with 2 mics and then quad track it and then re-record the part again and octotrack it please shut up if you dont know what youre talking about
>>130617579>octotrack itdas it mane
im gonna at least finish the bones of a song tonight damnit got a pretty good opening hook but im so clumsy with fl studio having not made music in ages
>>130617579it's one DI signal that you can reamp however you want>>130617569>recording my guitars in stereo
>>130617624>>recording my guitars in stereo
>>130617624then record it twice and quad track it if its just guitar music pan one pair left the other to the right, otherwise just get creative with your panning it is kind of required to record the part perfectly twice though, although a good trick guys like john petrucci use is they put a tc electronic ditto at the front of their signal chain and it has the same effect as doubling your guitar part
>>130617658>tc electronic ditto at the front of their signal chain and it has the same effect as doubling your guitar partthe haas effect is shit
>>130617669its shit if you dont widen your signals apart enough and get phase cancellation
>>130617691you just gotta record the parts twice or dont bother at all. otherwise you can use some ambience reverbs or stereo/ping pong delays which will widen it nicely without phase cancellation.
>>130617704i kind of agree but again there are workarounds, ofc the purist stance will always be to nail the part twice but the ditto trick does work its bad practice to start adding reverb and delay to mask signal processing issues

>>130618107>>130618089to be fair im just going off the sylvia massey book and a separate generic mix/mastering ultimately if it werks it werks
>>130618107it's one guitar being recorded in mono. in your scenario it's one amp. still mono. using two mics on one amp is a hack that not everyone does and it's not true stereo like the original anon meant.
>>130618134if youre using a 2 or 4x12 it is literally stereo recording to put a mic on separate speakers hell its stereo on a 1x12 because the mics arent in the exact same spot
>>130618174it's not helpful to think that way like if it's a drum kit and you could have a number of mics and not just 2 or 4. it's fake stereo or fake double tracking by using 2 different mics.

https://www.reddit.com/r/SlopcoreCirclejerk/comments/1u4bdw9/comment/orf4loz/>That's the part a lot of ai promters miss, artists love the process of art, without it it's just a pretty picture and well I've never cared for pretty images beyond at most making it my wallpaper, most of the time just say "cute" and move on, I've spent hours dedicated to my silly doodles and after they're done I don't think about them anymorethis is crazy lol people self-proclaim to be artists and they say they enjoy the process but for them it's more like a distraction like playing a video game than deeply caring about the result that an audience can appreciate as being a great work of art. they don't know what people mean when they use the word art or artist in the traditional sense and not this internet hugbox stuff for pretentious and delusional wannabes. amateur musicfags are like this too so they think it's no big deal to cut corners on what things they need to learn and their tools and production techniques etc because they aren't passionate about music in the sense that someone like michael jackson would be.
>>130622403>artistry>passion>dedication to a craftnot things you would understand.
>>130622457art is about a product like a painting or piece of music. people only care about the story behind the process if the art is good. not caring about the product is the most degen anti-human shit like you're just coping and pretending that you're happy with being an amateur hobbyist who just doodles or noodles in his spare time but never is able to progress into achieving greatness as a real artist. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RmVB7CshXz4actually watch this video, he makes a great analogy with a painting

cara delevingne has an estimated net worth of $50 millionpixie lott can singit shouldn't be impossible to make good music if you have millions to spend on the best producerstheir music is good compared to what anons can make but it's not masterpiece tier and the lack of attention from an audience that they get on their recent releases despite their fame reflects thatyou're getting completely mogged like an ant nest getting stomped by people who have both talent and resources
