If you've spent a reasonable amount of time listening to this kind of music, the distinction between traditional and extreme metal should be obvious. Overproduced modern traditional metal/rock records generally feel riffless, soulless, and generic anyway. I can't really think of an album that's ruined for me lately because of its production. It's either uninspired clone writing or a complete lack of talent.

I feel like this album just peaks in the first 12 seconds. The first few notes of the fantastic opener set up such a unique, heroic atmosphere that kinda fizzles out in favor of much more typical tough guy speed metal.

The production is tinny and muddy (sounds like a conscious choice though), vocals were not as high as I thought they would be, sounds like he's mostly singing in a mid-to-high range. Reminded me a bit of King Diamond singing in his normal mid-voice. The drums were a little bit better than I expected and it looks like the guitarist is the founder of the band. I think I was mostly correct with minor errors.
