I've heard this can actually result in the guitar being stronger than when it was originally built. Any takes on whether this is a waste of money or if it'll hold? Might do just that. I'm looking right now to see if the finish can be easily removed and reapplied - they only come in tobaccoburst, with a very plain wood grain. It's nothing a grey stain and a touch of satin sealer couldn't fix.
The only "real" problem with the portamento is that it's plain. It looks like a barebones Ibanez with a somewhat 70's aesthetic.
The only other "real" problem is that whatever this bass winds up being, it's probably the last stringed instrument I'll need to buy. I've got guitars and basses for all seasons, all except for this jazzy, technically violent outfit that either likes my playing or just couldn't get Forest or Hugo.

I was stuck on using the GE7 and BD2 for so long building this, and i tried so hard to get the SD1w to fit too, but i came to realize this way is best. Now how do i learn to play funky reggae rhythms?

there she was boys, like a beautiful young chinese geisha, with her legs wide open, aching for me to bang that gong... turns out its the exact same model as the new exclusive, a JS34Q, no dings, no scratches, just a missing backplate, and only $250. So this clam was mine for the taking. Sure, it's an axe for smelly poor people, but i simply couldnt refuse a deal like that. now i'm grinnin from ear to ear like the cheshire cat as I type this. hehe

Love them. The Bean especially has this natural, bright reverb to it on account of the hollow alu neck, and it feels real smooth in your hand compared to wood.
They are a bit heavy, which might be an issue if you play long gigs and want maximum comfort and movement. You get used to it, though.
