RIP to the Ibanez ZR/ZR2, best locking tremolo out there. Only floyd-style where I can loosen the springs, drop the low E to a low D, and fine-tune the others to taste in about 20 seconds. Plus, the intonation tool is dope.

OK I have this mystery bass warble on the E string I cannot figure out. 2010 squier affinity series j bass. guitar rig 5, 2i2.
>pluck E string
>it hits perfectly in tune
>suddenly dips -10
>suddenly jumps +25
>now on the attack reads +10
>slowly dips down back to 0
Ive lowered pickups no difference. I tried to check for string twist. The nut is not binding, I have graphite in. Good solid turns around the post. The bridge seems to have been not taken care of, substantial orange rust looking spots, infact directly under the bridge height adjustment screws. Black spots, pitting not sure what exactly happened here but if its the cause why is only the E having issues?

>Like are you literally thinking new music into being in your head?
Depends what you mean by this. If you mean just coming up with ideas in your head of how you want your song to sound then sure you can do that. But if you mean just having an actual arrangement of a completely original piece of music just popping in your head spontaneously like you can with a song that already exists before then no. The latter has only happened to me maybe a few times before, and i forgot them very quickly.

I restrung my strat for the first time in a while. I'd been using my other guitars at home but i've decided that the strat is what i'm gonna take on stage. We're getting together in the next couple weeks to start practicing my original songs. the singer handles all the lyrics and vocal parts based off my instrumental demos. We have about 8 songs fully 'written' and demoed with another half dozen in the works.
tonight i sat with my amp and pedalboard and worked out what pickup position, pedals and tuning i'll need for each song and made up a spreadsheet so i'm not stressing mid-rehersal. we already know who's playing bass and drums and i've got an old buddy who will fill in the gaps, sax, keys and backup vocals depending on the song.

What are y'all working on at the moment?

the trick is to group the songs that are standard or drop tuning together so you only change a few times per gig

My squier jmjm's B string has a weird ringing sound at around the 12-15th frets. Thankfully it's not heard through the amp but it's fucking annoying. It's not the nut, there's no binding and I've put some pencil lead in the slot. It's not the bridge either, I touched the bridge to mute it and the ringing was still there. Anyone has any idea?

If your amp is not at stage or practice volume during your setup, its not going to work unless you are using a solid state/modeler.

Agreed. That yellow HM strat has been in storage ever since I modded it and added the new pups and D-Tuna. It also has a Tremol-no. The problem with the D-Tuna is that it's just too janky and tough to get it tuned/intonated... it turns tuning an FR into even MORE of a balancing act, which is no bueno. Lesson learned. I've got another HM that is a black Wildwood exclusive and it is completely stock so at least there is that.

I thought I saw an image online of a gotoh floyd with what looked like a D-tuna type thing built in, but I can't seem to find it anymore. I've been in AZ and NM too damn long, I might just be seein mirages

I'm finally practicing on my Bass VI after getting it set up and I can't even get the same sound plucking the same strings. Is this what you people have had to deal with this whole time?

P.S. The technician kept saying he couldn't explain what a set up to me is because I have zero experience. Did I just get conned?
>>
>>130921478
I personally have a engl hardtailer and putting it in dive only mode makes it super simple to change tunings. I can easily drop to D standard. I'll be getting a graphtech unlock nut next time I restring in a few months so I dont even need to bother with the fine tuners anymore.

I essentially just tuned it sharper than E standard, activated my block, then dropped to E standard proper. Now going back and forth between E and D never raises or unbalances the trem and it makes it easier to palm mute.

I'm confused with time signatures and tempo.
I know what they mean but do you go with a time signature and tempo before writing a song or just use it as a way to transcribe the music to sheet.
>>
>>130929442
Normally you think of something that sounds good and go "mmm yes, that's in 3/4 and somewhere around allegro" and write it down
Conversely you can rip a fat fart, breathe it all in, and go "mmm yes, quite pungent my dear, 11/16 at 192bpm today"
>>
>>130929467
First part makes a lot of sense.

>>
>>130929511
Time signatures arise naturally from the music you write, or at least they should.
It's a way to transcribe music primarily, if something feels natural then go for it.
Verses typically maintain the same tempo/time signature through, chorus might pick it up, that's mostly the only thing to keep in mind.
