The LP Studio was created by Gibson in the early 80s to try to edge out the Japanese companies making high quality inexpensive copies of Gibson guitars. Their logic was that Americans were so retarded, they would rather own a guitar with the Gibson logo on it than one without it. Today the budget shit clunk Studio retails for $2000 new, and you can still buy a much better Japanese LP clone for less money.

depends on how it was setup but it shouldn’t. if it already had bad backwards lean in standard tuning it’ll get worse when downtuned. you could just back the trem claw screws out a half turn or so then retune, but generally a poor setup doesn’t really affect stability just action and maximum travel in a particular direction

why would you want a plastic guitar, just feels wrong
guitarists are basically a few steps removed from being tree huggers, it was never gonna work out financially even if ovations sounded amazing
>>
Is a class D solid state amp more likely to fuck up if I feed it hot signals, feedback loops and basically loud noise then say a piece of shit Marshall MG100 head or Orange Super Crush?? I just want to torture an amp and have it keep going

Nta but this is my fate soon swapping out my pickups and pots on the Gretsch
>>
>>131100404
Yeah, access is easy at least
>>131100424
That is a 50 year old jack socket, and it is fucked. The electronics are actually fine on it - wiring is sound, but the plastic has evidently gotten mashed up over time and cracked. I heard something moving around in the cavity whilst practicing this morning and a part of it had come away, then the main part of the switch decoupled when I took the jack out to look at it. I could try supergluing the plastic back together rather than doing a new one, but the jack itself had very little resistance when I plugged it in anyway and it would be easy for a cable to just fall out.

I was thinking to myself "how the fuck did the tech miss this", but then is the same tech that left my guitar with too straight a neck and buzz everywhere above the 7th fret, so now I'm definitely not going back to him.

yea i was thinking the wiring looks fine. well, hope you get it sorted without issue

it looks weird but it should just be the white wire is signal and the lil short one is ground right? idk why the signal is wired to that other mysterious thing though or why there were like three different tip contacts for the jack

what realistically are my options if i want a carved-top archtop?
Is it just gonna be mega$$ 30s/40s/early 50s gibsons and epiphones or are there more recent ones? AFAIK everything gibson has made for quite a while is laminate, and I don't think ibanez makes one. There's the loar but I don't think they offer one with a pickup (i'd like a floating neck pickup ideally)

Literally no reason at all. You can spare yourself having to tune lower because you've got an extra string, and if you play a song that only uses the EADG strings, you've got an extra place to rest your thumb, or can spare yourself from having to do stupid shit like moving from the 4th fret of the G string down to the first fret of the E string because the 6th fret of the B string is right there.

4 string purists are as retarded as the Fengibson Les Telestratster purists in these threads.

I've decided I'm most likely gonna get an affordable Floyd Rose guitar for my first FR guitar. While I like the idea of it and definitely wanna have one to play along to songs that use them, right now I don't know if that's something I'd actually want to use in making my own music and if it turns out that I don't, spending a bunch of money on it instead of a hardtail would seem silly. Right now, those js32 Jacksons seem like my best bet, dinky from pic rel in particular though I dunno how comfortable the archtop would be. Otherwise I'd get a King V cause they're great.

Highly recommend this for a beginner guitar. Good budget guitar on deep sale for 260 bucks. Bought one to keep at my parents house and was really really pleased. Didnt even need a setup. Also floyd roses at that price point are made of zinc pot metal and will wear out very fast.

Don't waste your money on anything with a FR "Special" they're unplayable garbage in the shape of a Floyd Rose. You need to get an FR 1000-series or Original or you're literally flushing money down the toilet and you'll spend more time putting the Special garbage back together than playing it.

300-500 euros or so. There are a few more expensive models that I like but as I said, don't really want to spend that much on a guitar I'd just use for covers. And floyds are what I'm most familiar with so kinda. Though as long as it's a good double locking trem and I like the rest of the specs, I wouldn't mind others.
