This was kinda a shitty take since I rush to get my strumming hand into position after I click on the mouse since no editing it but I have an issue with strings muting unintentionally specifically when I change chords, how can I fix this?

Peavey VTM 60

Both pushed with a Plumes in transparent mode and through the Mesa cab. I do think I like the VTM for most applications but the DR definitely has it's place. Both sound great imo.

Depends on the amp, depends on what style of music. Lots of people use Overdrives as an always on pedal, lots of people use them as a volume or gain boost for big riffs or solos. Some people use them to tighten other gain pedals, or add mids to muffs.

>>
>>131106170
my 30" baritone is in A standard or drop G
and I have an all 5ths tuning guitar that goes G D A E B F#
but baritone is more like something i use occasionally in arrangements for a different sound than just all the time
and the 5ths guitar is like kinda similar in that all the chord voicings have to be different so it makes nice contrast with normal tuning guitar parts
i don't even play chuggy riffs usually more like melodic/jazzy/trip-hoppy stuff

bruh do you never play polyphonically?
there's only 88 keys on a piano but your fingers can't reach every single possible combination of 10 notes because some of them are like just impossible for your hands to stretch that far. same with different tunings, you can play different notes simultaneously because each string is transposed

even thinking just melodically, the all fifths tuning lets you play lots of things that are like two note per string or need position shifts, you can play as like three note per string without shifting etc etc

Gonna go with these. Checked to see if I could find the set I came up, but pre-packaged and I did. They recommend it C standard on a 25.5 scale. Mine's 24.625, so it should be even better for mine when it comes to being flexible between C and D standard. Pretty close to what I'm used to on my other guitars too. Thank you though for the advice, especially on keeping the top 3 and bottom 3 strings about the same tension. I'll be sure to do that on my other guitars from now on.

i tried that set before, but the .060 sounded really bad. all stiff and no sustain, kinda inharmonious. that's just something that happens with thicker strings; the harmonics literally are not in tune with each other because the string is too stiff to vibrate in all modes perfectly. but, just try it i guess and you'll probably see what I mean

I already use a set of .65 on my lower tuned guitar. I don't actually totally disagree honestly, but I am playing with a shitload of distortion anyway. I did notice it though and hadn't really put words to it. What kind of music were you playing anyway? I'm planning on playing sutff like decapitated, bolt thrower, nunslaughter and dismember on it. Only relatively clean tone may be an occassional acid bath song.

I figured. The things you were saying about the certain strings didn't seem super relevant to what I play, but you did give some advice that was useful now and in the future though. Your vocaroo sounded pretty good. I look forward to getting my guitar's trem put in dive only and set up in C with the new strings. Gonna go eat shrooms and break the instrument in with my friend next week with his new violin.

the low guitar part (a 70s ibanez strat in all 5ths) is double tracked L/R and played an octave higher in the middle
the solo is triple tracked on 3 different guitars, a shreddy esp LP, a tele in nashville tuning, and a jazzmaster baritone
recorded thru different amps i cant really remember, I have an orange 50w 2x12, a vox 1x10, combo, a blackstar 1x12 combo, some combination of them probably

They don't stay in tune. Like at all. Aluminum is much more susceptible to slight temperature changes and the neck ends up moving so much keeping the guitar in tune is difficult.

Both the Rolling Stones and the Grateful Dead tried using them in the late 70's only to drop them because they're so unreliable as working guitars.

Mastery bridge, I got the guitar used and it was already there and I don’t think I’ll bother buying a regular bridge to replace it. The factory bridge is fine but also not the best, they normally have a cover which makes palm muting doable still but the strings are much more picky on where your palm needs to be but if you take the cover off the saddles are very sharp. I ended up taking a file to the outer edges. Rickenbacker sells the bridges for like $80, I’ve thought about buying one to replace it and sell the Mastery but I’m so lazy and setting up that bridge is a bit of a pain. It’s already on the guitar and it’s fine, I don’t care enough to swap it out
>flower power 60's hippies
They’re way more versatile than they get credit for
>>
>>131108754
How do you even play those guitars? Tried a regular one and short scale Rick and the nut width is tiny. Its like playing a Squier Mustang for sounds I can just get close to with a Gretsch.

I like thin nuts and small frets. Vintage spec Fender necks are some of my favorite necks and these are basically vintage spec Fender necks at the nut but with a 10 inch radius. The weird thing about Rick necks is they don’t taper out very much, at the 12th fret they’re thinner than vintage Fender spec and that’s where it takes getting used to. I love thin nuts and small frets and these are right up my alley

my first "pedalboard" wass a boss me-50, before that i messed around on my dad's multifx zoom thing
in my experience, the me-50 was like, okay, it had some cool stuff. it's main usp was that unlike a lot of multi effects it was kinda set up like the same way an actual pedalboard would be, with a bunch of individual knobs and pedals for different stuff
other multifx that you have to like scroll through menus and edit patches and stuff, i hate them, it just ruins my whole creative flow, I'd rather just use fake pedals in logic. or yknow, ideally, a pedalboard with like a bunch of different pedals that have like 3 knobs on each and you can plug them in different orders etc etc

if you're poor just get a few boss pedals. if you're really poor then get behringer or something like that, the analog ones are fine

at least that's my 2c, i know there's people who live like amp sims and multifx and stuff but to me it honestly all sounds fake and gay but more importantly is just way less fun to use
>>
>>131109057
I mainly play jazz chords and arpeggiated stuff and don’t really do much shreddy stuff. I hate skinny shredder necks, I like my necks fat like a 50s Gibson, nuts thin and frets small like a 50s Fender, and a radius no flatter than 12” but 7.25” to 10” are my preferred ones. I’ve got long skinny fingers and have no problem squeezing fingers into tighter shapes
>>
>>131109228
i actually have really skinny fingers too so maybe the sausages analogy is a bit misleading. maybe it's cause i also play classical guitar which has like seriously wide necks so i just got used to stuff that was easy to do on there and when electrics are too thin to pull it off i get all like >:(
>>
>>131109261

yea that's actually real
like not because it's gay or whatever but idk. people have different sweat that sometimes messes with my finish or gets oily. or sometimes istg it messes with my setup and i have to readjust the neck or bridge, like cause they just hold it differently and jerk it in a weird way or something, and it gets thrown out of balance
i used to run a jam night so i would share my guitar sometimes but i never took my favourite guitars, just some old junker i had lying around
>>
hey can anyone help out with this?
not sure if anyone has had the same problem
basically on some of my guitars the neck feels weird now. like, kind of sticky? or kinda like.. there's some sort of dirt on it. but, I've tried cleaning it all kindsa ways and nothing seems to get it back to how it felt before. so i think maybe something has chemically changed with the finish? is there any way to make it feel good again?
>>
>>131109529

no im not really very sweaty. it's just the back of the neck, and it's only on 2 of my guitars (an epiphone and a squier), it's not happened to any others, fenders, ibanez, esp etc, none of my acoustics. so i think they might use a different kind of finish?

Getting the 70's tone is super hard in a modern environment. Alice Cooper tried it for one of his modern albums but I'm not sure if evrn he nailed it perfectly. Much has to do with early 70s amps coming with a very specific loudspeaker that afterwards were replaced with something else.
