they are in the same key lol, A harmonic minor (A B C D E F G#). E is the V chord in A minor.

who needs an amp when you could just get a nice acoustic
>>
>>131367768
nice acoustic relies on climate and humidity control. a lightweight telecaster and danelectro honeytone is a better guitar for the upcoming civil war. your Martin warps week one becomes unplayable. your cheap tele just needs a tweak on the truss rod. You stocked up on 9 volts and can outproject a martin with a honeytone. your telecaster doubles as a melee weapon.

Sometimes it's more about where it goes than the money amount necessarily. Do you want to see your guitar sold to a shop and then put up for resale? It probably changes hands a few different times until it just gets put up to an astronomical price over in Japan where it sits for ten years. Or, do you want it to go to a collector who's ecstatic to unbox it, document the story, and all that?

How difficult would be to get used to playing a guitar with no fret markers?
>>
>>131369884
still infinitely easier than playing a cello
>>
Hey you terminally online mentally ill freaks
>>
>>131369884
extremely easy unless you're an absolute beginner. most classical guitars are like that
however i still prefer fret markers. better for improvisation when i never have to spend even a millisecond worrying about what fret I'm on

what i HATE tho is guitars that have the fret markers on (3,5,7,10,12) etc instead of (3,5,7,9,12). i have played a few like that and they always make me fuck up lol
>>
>>131367607
yes actually, look up different types of cadences. there is absolutely no reason you have to put chords in a certain order. it's just that V - I sounds more 'finished' than I - V which kinda feels like it's about to do something else after
>>
>>131369903
to be fair on cello you kinda have the body/neck join at the 9th 'fret' which can be useful as a guide

I would like to start recording my acoustic guitar but also kinda want to record vocals as well (in a somewhat professional manner) so I was looking at microphones and I see that the shure sm57 is very much recommended for recording acoustic guitars and amps and such but is there one microphone that is good enough to be a hybrid for recording guitars and vocals? I dont want to have a bunch of mics I put away and take out each time I want to record.
>>
^^^

>>
>>131370895
I did google but I'd rather hear from people who use the stuff not a bunch of targeted ad articles that tell me to use the hecking awesome microphone that just so happens to sponsor the article/video
>>
>>131370912
I don't know anything about recording with mics like sm57 but I know any large-diaphragm condenser microphone would work great for both vocals and acoustic
>>
>>131366342
There are ham radio boomers with entire storage lockers full of those things. Bought in bulk for pennies.
>>
>>131370867
akg p170 pencil condenser mic pointed near the sound hole or at the 12 fret and/or use a acoustic guitar pickup running DI into your interface add some compression.
>>
>>131369903
Yeah I can't even begin to imagine how difficult that'll be.

>>131370284
Ah hopefully, cause my next one won't have them and I don't want it to be a hindrance. I briefly had a guitar with barely visible ones and I found myself messing up way more than usual but I had it only for a week or two so I may have gotten used to it if I kept it longer.

Can't say I've ever seen one with a marker on the tenth fret before but damn if that wouldn't make it aesthetically annoying to me lol.
>>
>>131370867
sm57 is ok. it has a very recognisable sound. I don't really like it that much personally, especially on acoustic guitar where it really lacks high end detail. it's very good for micing amps and snare drums in live scenarios but for recording i think there are a lot of nicer options.

i would recommend ribbon mics if you want a mic that is really great on all 3 of electric guitars, vox and acoustics.

these ribbon mics are cheap and sound great. i own a large collection of a bunch of different types of mics, most of which cost a lot more than these, but these are basically my go to because they just sound so good on everything

https://www.thomann.co.uk/the_t.bone_rb_500_fetamp_bundle.htm

or you could go with a large diaphragm condenser... those type of mics are very polished and detailed sounding, but i often feel like it's too much. It's kind of like using HDR on a photo, whereas ribbons sound more natural to me. all this stuff is very much down to personal preference and what kind of sound you like desu.

basically...

rugged construction, vintage, somewhat lower fidelity sound = dynamic mics like sm57 or sm58

hifi, hyper realistic sound = condenser mics like akg c414

in-between, natural/balanced sound = ribbon mics
>>
>>131370912

yeah i've usually only seen it on older european or japanese 60s guitars. it's kinda cool because the fret markers spell out the minor pentatonic scale but also.. it's just different and feels completely wrong because we are so used to 3 5 7 9

"When it is done properly" is a phrase I would like to talk about a little right now.
I see a lot of people saying guitars are better than ever because of CNC and modern production methods. I hardly ever see anyone saying that these systems only are superior if they are done properly. The tools and machines need to be maintained, which costs money. They need to be calibrated and aligned, which costs money. Factories who rely on output scale will not spend the money and time to sharpen blades, zero out machines, or calibrate settings when they could be pumping out guitars. What happens is that you get guitars that are built with inherent faults that can never be remedied without major woodwork.
So, please, just remember that phrase: "When it is done properly."

This is your own fault you stupid fucking tranny. you could've just posted about guitars anonymously, but you had to attention whore your very first thread here and post your gay little pictures because you felt "cute". Now you've set the schizo off because of your selfish actions, and as a result the threads are even shittier than they were before.

None of those reports seemed to slow him down at all, what's the point in having mods ban him when he has a seemingly infinite set of IP addresses to spam from? Did they rage ban him? Are they going to?

why are most push/pull pots designed as split shaft? it seems like the knob is much more likely to fly off when pulled
>>
>>131374337
They usually grab pretty tight I have to pull quite hard to get them off
If it's flying off for you bend the shafts out a little bit if you're a gangsta or just buy a knob with a set screw
>>
>>131374337
No. They do make solid shaft ones. Mostly alpha and Bourns brand though. There are CTS brand solid shaft but they are far more expensive. Brand really doesn’t matter. What you need to look at is tolerance specs on the resistance. The tighter tolerance the better. It’s more common for them to be split shaft because the most common thing to do is split the coils on a humbucker and Les Pauls use split shaft.
>>131374391
Good advice. The solid shafts are tapered a little differently on the switch in my experience and if you leave the pot in the up position with a heavier knob and have a drop you could bend the shaft and have to replace.

The only thing you ever may need to do is get it recapped. Ribbon cable connectors sometimes go back but those can be converted to hardwired. They're extremely durable amps.

It’s documented proven that males lower on the totem pole are threatened by more dominant males. The same thing can be see when gg seethes over acoustic. I get it though, you need to be taller and have bigger and stronger hands, and there are no effects to hide behind. It’s not for everyone.

That’s why they’re good amps. The only things to do in that neck of the woods is to work and be miserable. Their solid state bass amps were built like a tank and would weigh the van down going to a show.

i saw this mentioned a couple of threads ago and i forgot to ask, what the fuck is string twist? i have never encountered this on my guitar I just string up and pay no attention to what im doing but according to some anons this is an issue on basses?

>>131375100
the person with the rainbow strap was actually lgbt yes
>>
Why has half of /gg/ been raped and/or are lgbtqrs+?
>>
>>131374910
Its when the string gets pinched against the bridge before the first wraps are done at the tuner. I find it happens mostly on my jazz bass if I'm not careful but its usually a result of a bad string and a bad installation. I haven't had it happen on a guitar. If you catch it early you can simply slide your finger down the string while releasing the ball end and you'll see it spin back straight. If you dont catch it on installation, the string eventually goes bad and has all sort of tuning and intonation issues.
