The song is a slow Chamber Folk ballad about yearning to be free yet seen that crescendos at its lyrical climax, and damn, do those closing lyrics hit hard:>So send me out to space and cut me free>And like a satellite, just look for meBlood Ballet would continue much of those themes, although instead of mourning adolescence, these would confront the first steps of adulthood. The lyrics here, while deeply emotional, are much rawer and unleashed without being scornful. While lacking a strong emotional centerpiece, the album still features lovely tunes like the homage to her high school boyfriend "James" who also happened to play trumpet on "Satellite".For me, these would be the highlights of her early work. I didn't know she could belt. Her albums lead me to believe she kept it soft and whispery, but no, she sang her heart out and then some. And, best yet, almost the entire audience sang with her, amplifying the arena. People even busted out their lighters on Funeral and Scott Street. Her brother even came out to perform with her.Naturally, Phoebe brought up the painful subject of her father dying. She asked if anyone in the audience had their dad die and sentimentally recounted her experience. Apart from that, she was in great spirits. At one point, she came down from the second stage and gave everyone at the edge a high five as she walked up on the first stage. She even had some bants about being taken to a WNBA game. 10/10 experience.
