What's the point of other guitars when nylon guitar exist?
>>
a faggot named pythagoras came up with music theory
>>
You can't even play a Dorian b5 scale.
>>
>>131867592
Cause newfags can't help but to argue with him
>>
I wouldn’t argue theory with people that can’t even play in time to a metronome. It’s only mildly amusing to watch you guys have tangential arguments over semantics.

This is a fallacy. Schizos will talk to themselves if they get no replies. Ignoring them doesn't work.

ive been practicing daily, usually twice per day, for the last 3.5 years. i only practice technique and theory stuff. i am making good progress imo but i need to learn songs. rec me some songs to learn, I literally dont ever work on that. i know like 2 or 3 darkthrone and bathory riffs and thats it.

>>

if you dont like the sound of a taylor you arent going to like any of the other options. guild d50 has similar bass-heavy scoop like those guitars but its way bassier you might not like it. boucher, bourgeois, and collings are probaby above your budget. they start at like $5k, but bourg and bouch sound like taylors to me anyway

It's easy fren you just press the buttons and notes come out. Wish I could play guitar but I don't know any of your crazy finger jutsus
>>
>>131872924
learning scale shapes on piano is a pain in the ass though. on guitar you can just move the exact same scale and chord shapes around to get a different one
>>
>>131872988
I think it's easier to learn the relationships/spacing between notes rather than the shapes. So you know intuitively how many steps away the note/voicing you want is instead of having to memorize a shape for each chord in every scale. But that could also be just stupid habits from being self taught.

I feel like my brain doesn't work fast enough to competently improvise over changes.
>>
>>131874104
Yeah, it feels good. Neck is a lovely profile, good weight, fits in my hands and arms a little better than my Yamaha SG. It does need a professional clean and set up, it's got a bunch of gunk around the nut, the nut itself needs a look at and some of the moving parts are a bit stiff, but the frets look okay, electronics are working nicely and it sounds great.
>>
>>131874148
so you start out by doing it incompetently instead
>>
>>131874148
It's not a sin to have licks/prepared phrases or chunks that you can morph as your own and while improvising.

the point of the velcro is to make swapping pedals out easy as shit, not to permanently entomb the board in some configuration immutable to the whims of man

so I am just starting to learn and so many guides on line stress chords right out the gate but I’ve using Yousician and it doesn’t stress chords that much it has me playing stripped down melodies of songs

I am just wondering if at this level it’s an efficient use of my very limited time playing stripped down melodies of songs is really satisfying but if I am to believe some of these other practice guides I should be drilling chords constantly which doesn’t seem like a lot of fun and I’m in this primarily to have fun

is this dude just not great despite investing 700+ hours or can I expect to play at a similar level after 700 hours?

grim either way
>>
>>131881771
you can't learn guitar by playing a video game. this dude isn't great and it's because he's trying to get a video game to teach him guitar. you learn guitar by playing guitar, poorly, until you git gud and don't play it so poorly anymore. you suck until you don't suck, and that process is going to look different for everyone. there's no one size fits all. same with many other skills.

however after 700+ hours, this is fundamental basic shit and he should've gotten it down by now, so you could say he's below average in terms of skill. the positive is it seems like he's trying and he'll improve given enough time.
>>
>>131881822
so am I wrong in using Yousician just as a way to build some foundation and find my bearings? I feel like I am learning some things, if only how to gradually become comfortable strumming in rythm and fretting the actual guitar
>>
>>131881179
You don’t buy a Jazzmaster for the awful bridge pickup, you buy it for Fender’s single best neck pickup sound. If you want a Fender guitar for a bridge pickup sound and want to stick with single coils you get a Telecaster and ever look back.
>>
>>131881859
Yeah the neck pickup is good. I’m just gonna get some novaks innit and get a tele later. Novak j-90 B and j-v N sounds like it should do what i want it to do.
>>
>>131881849
ever been to the japanese learning threads on /v/, /a/ or /jp/? I ask because, if you have, then your question is equivalent to something like
>so am I wrong in using Anki just as a way to build some vocabulary and find my bearings?
yes, you can use Anki, yes you can use Rocksmith or Youisician or whatever, but those things are supplemental at best. if you want to learn a language, you have to use that language as much as possible, it's an active process. if you want to learn a musical instrument, you have to play that instrument as much as possible, it's an active process.

this dude in the video would be better off learning the song slowly at his own pace, with a metronome, and grinding it on repeat until he can work up the speed to play it at the pace he wants. the game will help with that, but you don't need it, you can just use a metronome.
>>
>>131881849
a rock is just a rock. until some genius starts knapping flint into stone tools and builds a house. depends on how you use the tool whether or not you’ll get anything out of it but it will have its own ceiling
>>
>>131881887
sorry for asking I am trying to be as efficient with my time as possible I aim for 45 minutes to an hour daily and so far I am comfortable with Yousician the only negative thing I can think of it is that I am too reliant on physically seeing the tabs I am not relying on my ears as much as I should be

I feel like grinding it daily on Yousician for six months and then reevaluating is the best path forward for me, again I am a complete beginner with limited practice time, so far Yousician has been very satisfying and fun for me it certainly beats reading some music theory book I can make heads or tails of and doing a bunch of boring drills (again, at least for NOW)
>>
It’s not a “real” jazzmaster anyway. It’s one of those models that fender cucked for no good reason and took the rhythm circuit away. All rosewood neck though.
>>
>>131881926
if it keeps you playing and you enjoy it, then keep doing it. the most important thing is that you keep playing, and learn new things as much as possible.
>>
>>131881938

>>
>>131881520
Have you messed with the Tone Studio app yet? There's so many things to play around with in there I've barely scratched the surface with my 50w Gen 3
>>
>>131881937
Okay that's actually good to know because they trotted out J Mascis in an ad.
>>
>>131882089
The pickups in my jazzmaster currently are actually the j mascis signatures

What a terrible choice.
>>
who is j mastics
>>
>>131882008
Nah the Go is the little box you just plug into the guitar and play with headphones, I don’t have an actual Katana and idk if the Go has any sort of app support and even if it did I’d never use it cuz I’ve got toob amps. It’s neat being able to just plug it in and play on the couch with decent preset tones and not make any more noise than just playing unplugged
>>
>>131882161
It does work with the app and you can basically replicate most Boss pedals with it

>>
>>131882305
3-4k is the high end professional range. let me guess, you "need" more than a martin d-28 which costs $3.5k in the gloss version
those 8k collings are for the same people that buy PRS Core guitars
>>
>>131882296

>>131882312

>>131882313
sweetwater carries a lot of brands but not many smaller boutique ones. i am curious what some of the smaller brands making comparable guitars to martin/gibson/taylor are
>>
>>131882312
ive been to a lot of jams, the collings are basically the loudest acoustic dreadnought you can get. they do have a place for people that genuinely need them. a d28 is perfectly fine for 99% of people though i would not call them high end. entry level professional
>>
>>131882316
what is yamaha's d-28 equivalent? made in japan, obvs
>>
>>131881771
try playing guitar and not some gay ass game he's not even in tune or in time this is just teaching him bad habits. Hes just rushing to the tone because the game says so he has no idea how to actually play a note and make it sing sweet
>>
>>131882316
Literally no other guitar sounds like a Martin. If you want the sound on the record, you have to get a Martin. I don't know why no one has cracked the code yet, but they haven't.
>>
>>131882322
fg9 and fs9 are $4k lole. i guess you could get a ll16 or ll36 but its really not the same guitar

God I despise you faggots who think you can hear a difference between brands and woods.
I bet if I posted a voca of different instruments nobody here would even notice it, yet people always say shit like "ah yes THIS is the Martin sound" you're like those sommeliers in that video where they analyzed boxed wine because it came in an expensive bottle. Different brands of strings already change the sound so much that it's impossible to tell guitar brands apart just by sound alone.
