He gingerly steps over the metal grate, in his mid-calve length red leather pumps, thinking how if he dropped his keys through it on the wrong day it could end his life. He had 4 friends dead by becoming frozen solid this past year. Now he doesn't have friends. He clambers into the funicular, and 13 minutes later he arrives at the discotheque. He is wearing a peach coloured turtle-neck sweater, and dark grey corduroy slacks. He walks to the bar and tells them he's here for his set. Someone from the crowd hands him an Ovation acoustic. Two large men from the crowd walk up and grab a spot at the drum set and synth. He places a suction cup piezo pickup on the ovation, and plugs it into his battery powered Honey-Tone amp, and adjusts the stand-mounted Shure Sm-57 dynamic microphone toward it's speaker. The two brutes ooze out a subtle new-wave groove. And he somberly begins to play his last imaginary guitar solo...

Sometimes thst can be an issue wit the neck pocket too- that the neck is skewed one way or the other. you can leave tension on the strings then barely loosen the four screws on the neck and move the neck where you need. Watch out for either E strings being too close to the edge of the fretboard though.

>>
>>131887423
you don't really need a looper either, but if you have a looper, I find having pedals gives you more options with your loops because you can create different kinds of contrasting timbres that differentiate the parts of the loop. That being said, what's the best looper? I thought it was the rc-600 but mine got bricked though some bullshit i don't understand.

>>
>>131887618
i would recommend playing EBGB over and over again (E as in the E string) to start getting used to arpeggios, then you can try fretting the 2nd fret of E, and then the 3rd, then go back to fretting the 2nd, then back to open string

its an exercise my guitar teacher taught me when i was just starting out

i would also recommend looking into learning the easiest stuff you can find from bands you like, for example if you like the ramones thats as simple as it gets, just power chords

many people try to learn overly complex stuff from the getgo and get demotivated

So what's the deal with Schecter and PRS? They're expensive, I see them in all the shops, there are a good number on the used marke.

>Did you learn how to work on your amps by just watching videos or what?

Basically, yeah. I didn't want to go weeks without my amps by taking them to a tech, and there's a lot of good tutorials on yt especially for the Bassman circuits. Psionics on yt is a really good resource for old Fender amps and their reissues. Technology Enterprices and Fazio Electric are also good channels. The hardest part was just getting to courage to dive in and just do it.

Get a snuffer stick (or make one) and a third hand if you don't already have one. So far all I've done is

-Replace filter caps
-Replace Bias cap
-Replace old ceramic disc caps
-Reflow solder on heater wiring
-Reconfigured 16ohm 4x12 cab to 4ohm

Now I just watch Psionic's videos in my free time and am slowly learning different amp circuits and what does what and what to replace when. It's neat stuff if you like to tinker.

Highly unlikely. And the fact that it bothered you that you got made fun of for never playing again, "the lady doth protest too much", etc.

You don't play and everyone in this general knows it by now, just like we know you're not married, you don't have children, and you don't own a home. You might as well give up the act.

That's what I'm saying. Leo didn't play, he asked a bunch of retards who did for advice, they gave him shitty advice, so he built (some good but) some shitty designs
And then Fender didn't want to change them because of muh tradition muh vintage
That's why G&L was fun because it was basically Fender if it was allowed to make good instruments, but no one wanted them because they weren't muh tradition, muh vintage, so they went under

Quality of posts in online communities is defined by content that is relevant, clear, respectful, and valuable to the specific audience, rather than merely frequent. High-quality contributions drive meaningful discussions, increase engagement metrics, and foster a loyal community, whereas low-quality or spammy content leads to user disengagement and algorithmic suppression.

has anyone ever replaced their pickups with dog shit?
>>
>>131892796
No, no one has ever replaced guitar or bass pickups (the magnetic or piezo-electric sensors that capture string vibrations) with dog feces. Dog waste is organic, moist, non-conductive, and structurally useless for generating an electromagnetic signal to send to an amplifier.

How do I figure out what a good starter electric is? There are like then thousand different brands each making ten million different models.

I need an indoor hobby now that the weather is turning and all the YouTube guitar videos have gotten to me. Do I just go to a local guitar store, pick a cheaper model from one of the big brands, and assume everything on the low end of the price tree is going to be about the same?
>>

how much are you trying to spend and what models interest you?

this could work well but you also depends on the store and their selection. In person is the best way to choose a guitar generally though I recon

so i'm two weeks in and i'm making ok progress, forming chords went from something that seemed impossible to something that is just somewhat hard

anyway, i'm just wondering should i bite the bullet and pay for some lessons? i don't feel like i'm practicing super efficiently. or am i just expecting too much out of myself
>>
>>131896667
I think the decision to get lessons is basically entirely financial. Lessons from a good teacher would help anyone especially in the beginning, so it's like if you are at a time in your life when you can afford em and want em get em, is how i see that

want to try some new guitar strings. Any recommendations? I started with 10 - 46 ernie ball slinky then just used some fender voodoo child 10-38 and I like those more than the ernie ball ones. What do you guys use? Also I only play blues and blues/rock and only used the fender ones because they were the same gauge rory gallagher used so might get those again but would also like to experiment some more. I do enjoy lighter gauges

I live in a very large city, so there's a decent handful of quality guitar shops with good reputation and stock.

>>131896367
This is a first guitar for me to figure out if I even want to stick with it for more than a season, so not much. Probably $300-ish range (or less if used). I think that's enough to get me out of the Amazon/Ali express slop and into something real.

Talking to a guy at work who plays, he asked me about what music I liked and the recommended something with single-coils/P-90, but to not mind humbuckers either. Stylewise something a little more contemporary, the whole 50s/60s style does nothing for me despite it being what guitar types seem to idolize.

Ibanez GRG121SP, Harley Benton CST-24T P-90, or something used. Idk, probably just going to let the salesman talk me into something he likes or go off script by getting a classical.
>>
>>131897800

>>
>>131897800

Also, no. Did you seriously imagine you could get all that shit for $120 and there would he a single redeeming quality about any of it? That's landfill bait.

>>131896631

Shoulda got a double fat Strat
>>
>>131897566

Always either do double fat (HH), or just stick with all single coils

The middle position of an HH sounds better than a middle single coil, and you lose the quacky in between positions anyway with humbuckers
>>
>>
>>131898066
Both of these should be fine for a beginner. I'll also add the Yamaha Pacifica 112V to that list. If you can find any of them used for a good price just go for it, since you will probably want to upgrade to something better anyway if you decide to stick with it. Avoid floating bridges on cheap guitars.

Also you can postpone purchasing an amp while you save money for something decent if you got a pc setup for recording and playing.

>>
>>131900342
start noodling now, pay attention to sounds you like to hear, I was intimidated by the notion, trying to learn modes and forms and patterns and it really is better to just mess around with sounds and try to play things you like, it can be soon as a couple weeks if you learn a couple chord progressions and start noodling around the shapes by ear, moving them around the fret board etc. Realistically though I make a lot of stuff now and I never used to make anything but I've been playing for 20 years basically just tabs, without bothering to learn or study much of anything and it just now clicked for me lel
