is the dart silver line /n/ approved? it’s scheduled to open in october
>>2045787RIP Addison property values
>>2045787The name change and the general lack of PR from this project make it kinda hard to figure out whether or not it is good /n/ material/.
>>2045787getting a ring line is going to be huge for the network. i think the two most important things are the university and airport stops which should get consistent use by students and travelers.
>>2045899forgot pic
>>2045787>light rail>in a metro area of 8 million peopleit will only be /n/ approved because there's too many americans here that will consider that a transit revolution as they can't cope with the fact their passenger rail system makes places like lagos nigeria look developed
>>2046113I also saw that they are estimating an average speed of 26 mph, which is absolutely abysmal for a 26 mile long route with only 8 intermediate stations
>>2046114>26 mphHoly DOA, Batman! Are they trying to sabotage their own trolley? >Let's see here, cars have several advantages over trains, like being more convenient, usually faster, and free from uNdesIreable GentS. But hey, trains can be faster in heavy traffic! >Make it go school zone speeds
>>2045787/ck/ is having a picnic.https://boards.4chan.org/ck/thread/21426868#top/n/ is invited. Hopefully you guys bring a loaf of sliced bread or a 12 pack of Dr. Pepper. No /k/ brownies please.
>>2046117allegedly their top speed is 80 mph, their maximum dwell time is one minute, and a one way full trip is 59-60 minutes. going 80 mph, you can cover 26 miles in just under 20 minutes. even if you count 3 minutes lost for every intermediate stop and 2 minutes for each terminal, you still only reach 47-48 minutes, and those numbers I used are still quite conservative. i have no clue what the fuck they were smoking when they calculated it
I’m on the texrail ama
Comfy ride to Grapevine
it will be underutilized. there’s no real reason to travel to and from these places. the University and Airport passengers will make up the bulk of riders
>>2046192>there’s no real reason to travel to and from these placesbecause the exact current pattern of land use has got to stay static forever and ever?
>>2046592what the fuck does that autistic rhetorical question even meme? real life isn’t cities: skylines where you can instantly destroy and build stuff. that being said these stations are still probably the best on that whole line since they have those mixed use areas close to the station or plan to make/expand them. nowhere in between is really that worthy of a station. i like the idea of extending the line eastwards to murphy and wylie which is a possible option by 2040 they once said.
>>2045787>live in plano off k>work in addison right next to airportim so excited bros
>>2045787looks like shit. not even 30mph average speed? better to take the highway
This is what they took from you
>>2049388Interurbans must've sucked if they could be put out of business by pre-Interstate roads. Also, doesn't this help disprove the myth that people liked living in cities until Big Oil/Big Car brainwashed people into moving to the suburbs?
>>2049398Cars really suck because you'd take hours to just get to the next town if big government didn't build xboxhueg highways.
>>2049398You’re right about the suburb thing. Streetcars and interurbans built the suburbs and they were about land speculation as much as transportation.
>>2049388>>2049404F
>>2049399Right, but even without highways the interurbans still went under, meaning they were dog-slow or at least as slow as cars on pre-Interstate roads.
>>2045787only 3 more months
>>2049388Downtown Van Alstyne still has interurban tracks visible in the old main thoroughfare. They just restored one of the cars as well and have it on display nearby. Very cool, but makes me seethe to think about what was lost. Also, the dart tracks technically extend northwards up to here from the parker road station, but they are only used to haul gravel freight which derails 1x per year. t. Live here

opening announcement either this week or next
>>2049674>>2049673It's not even real just a dressed up old boxcar. That's gay.
>>20516112 more weeks
someone has already tried to beat the train during testinghttps://youtu.be/HP7P11ABVSU&t=156
>>2046192>>2045787why would I ride dart? The first and only time I did, there was a black man at the front of the car, punching the air aggressively, in some sort of imagined boxing match, muttering to no one. No authorities were there to stop him and life went on. Not exposing myself to that in the future.
>>2053182you can report it on the dart app
>>2053183when seconds matter the police are only minutes away ^_^
>>2053184what do you want to have happen? cops teleport onto a moving train? if you report it they'll probably be ready at the next stop
>>2053184its texas, be your own first responder. anyways its super funny to watch this stuff on the dart. yes they typically hop on at the next stop, seen it happen.>>2046754right up in downtown here. the interior of these new cars look very nice. riding the dart is fun but so is driving... then again youd know who i am if i said what i drive
>>2053182Do Dallas Cucks really? Even in Miami the crack heads on the train are rare
