>A new era of high-speed rail to begin between Boston and Washington, DC
>WASHINGTON – All aboard the future of East Coast travel! Starting Thursday, Aug. 28, customers can travel on Amtrak’s NextGen Acela – America’s high-speed train – connecting the Northeast Corridor between Washington, D.C., New York City, and Boston.

Will we live to see the Amtrak redemption arc?
>>
Same week as the planned SEPTA, good lord Philly's gonna be a shitshow
>>
Will this thing magically be able to go faster than the current acela trainsets on the same track because last I checked, the trains between NY and DC were basically the same speed whether acela or not, maybe a 10 minute difference, the only thing acela has as an advantage is that it keeps smelly students and backpackers and breedoids with their crotch spawn off the train, and that is a big advantage but they could also make an adults-only train that doesn't use a high speed locomotive and just charge more

>Will this thing magically be able to go faster than the current acela trainsets on the same track
yes
>The new train sets, along with track and signaling improvements, will allow for an initial improvement in maximum regular service speed to 160 mph (260 km/h) on some portions of the route.[34]

>More seats
To me that always reads as "less personal space"
>>
>>2050897
Anyone know what the seat pitch of these new trains is vs. the old ones?
>>
>>2050897
>>2050911
I don't remember where but I read that the trains are just so much longer that they were able to increase the number of seats and still increase leg room

>on some portions of the route
just checked, and the maximum speed between Washington and New York is 130 mph? reason for the slow speed is that the overhead wires are old and cannot support higher speeds, so even if new train are introduced, the travel time will not change.

Not sure but I think the fastest section is somewhere between NY and Boston

Amtrak should sue Alstom for damages for the years and years of delays.

And I don't think you can blame Amtrak for being American retards this time, the TGV M made for the French railways is basically the same and those are also experiencing years of delays.
>>
happendings. thank you for beta testing this train for Alstom.
>>
Happy Acela day, everyone.

>Roughly 7 hours from Boston to DC
What a joke
