Also I put a 36t chain ring and expensive tires on the shartmart bike. Aliexpress baited me with a thumbnail of two rekon race for $59 but it was one. They'll put the lowest option price with the highest option image in the thumbnails like that so I just got a 2nd tire. Daughter is almost 3. In the past 18 months i put possibly 2k Km on this thing. What to say. >>2055621Buying professionally treated bamboo is the safest option of course.I harvested my tubes in a local bamboo garden and dried them for half a year in the workshop of my employer. The patterns depend entirely on the variety. However chlorophyll will decompose over time and they'll always end up shades of brown.>>2055624Properly made composites should be as sturdy as any quality carbon frame. My first frame, which I built under supervision in a workshop, survived 12000km in Australia with front and back panniers. It did that despite having a design flaw with the seat post shell. Would not use an aliminium reducer shell for that.Cut out some tube from a defunct steel frame. My first entirely home made frame I cobbled together from srcap materials in my employers workshop. It did not hold up.Use marine grade epoxy and fibres designed for composite work.A lot of cycle couriers in Berlin use Bamboo frames and they abuse the shit out of them. They hold up fine.

Friendly reminder that disc brakes on road bikes is retarded and unnecessary.
Got this 2 months ago for 70 euro. Hubs, headset, rear derailleur are 105, cranks and front derailleur are "Sakae". I had to get the wheels trued at the shop and I replaced the handle bars and bottom bracket so all up it was about 180 including buying some tools. Never had a road bike before, it's so fun. Did my first 100km ride and then my first 120km ride. I just put some GP 4 season tyres on it for winter and then i want to replace the horrible chinesium seat from the previous owner

>>2056150>have bike parts>can't bring myself to install them because I'll have to redo internal hydraulic linesI hate modern bikes already
I rode my friends roadbike a month ago and the experience was so fun compared to my daily bicycle commute that I decided to swap from running to cycling for staying fit and got myself a new gravel bike. For the first 3 rides my back hurt like hell and my arms too. I looked up some videos and they said that you should not put your weight onto your arms. I adjusted my posture and did a 60km ride to the beach. It was loads of fun and it didn't hurt anymore. Still got some sore back for a bit but it went away after getting home within 15 mind. I'll try inverting my stem to see if I can raise my handlebars a little bit more to have more bent arms but other than that I think the bike fits well. I shoud probably train my core a bit more as I still have the tendency to forget and start leaning on my shoulders throughout the ride. Maybe I'll buy a handlebar bag too because currently I just carry a backpack for my water, energy bar and emergency repair kit.

sup n, havnt been here in awhileheres my specialized hardrock. I got it about a month ago and ive been working on building it up into one of those gravel/commuter/adventure bikes that are so popular right now. So far ive gotten it tuned up, put new expensive tires on it, and thats about it! But i want to get a front rack, grips, pedals, and possibly convert it to a 1x10 or 1x12. Do you think its worth it? It pretty much will never leave flat ground and the current setup is fine, its just that everyone doing this kind of build does a 1x setup. I also really want to change out the chainring because it has that gross yellow sunbleached plastic. Today I lubed the chain and it feels so much better. Super new to bikes as an adult so this is my first time doing everything and its very rewarding.
another pic i took today. couldnt decide which i liked better
>>2056251>possibly convert it to a 1x10 or 1x12Do that.In my experience, this is what makes these builds ride great like a modern bike. I'd recommend a 40t chainring, I feel that gives a nice range of gears. I've never felt that I needed more, and I do technical climbs and road sections with my builds. If you want to keep the budget low, get a microSHIFT cassette/derailleur/shifter combo. Their stuff offers a lot for little money.
>>2056289I like the black sword for far. I had a microshift r8 that came on the bike and hated that the derailleur couldn't take anything bigger than an 28t. The r8 was worse than a Shimano Claris but this sword groupset is nice but I paied like $175 burgerbucks from shartmart.com for it and that was a bit steep for a cable brake groupset.
>>2056251>Do you think its worth it?it'll cost a lot and you'll probably get less range than your current 3x. although you probably don't use the full range you have since you're not doing anything more challenging than gravel on flat terrain.up to you but personally I wouldn't bother.
