How does /n/ feel about recumbent bikes?
They seem to get a bad rap from snobby cyclists but they look more comfortable and are apparently faster on flats.

nobody has really figured out a way for bents to handle like a conventional bicycle over bumps so they're only practical on glass-smooth tarmac. you can throw 700c wheels and suspension at the problem but then you're taking on an even larger weight penalty while sacrificing some of the aero benefit. most designs also involve weird chainline problems and/or extra drivetrain losses. it's a fine idea that just doesn't work well in the real world for the most part.

you don't need suspension
the seat and reclining position means bumps feel less impactful rather than them connecting directly into your sit bones (or worse, your perineum)
actual road speed bumps can eat my ass though

>bumps feel less impactful

don't care, they slow you down more than on a conventional bike and the only valid reason to ride a bent is to go really fast. comfort is a boomer meme.

and slower on climbs

if you connect bumps into your seat bones, you are doing it wrong
when it's bumpy, you get off the seat and your legs become suspension
can't do that on a rectum bent
