Pulse Lightstar (1986)
40mpg is not any kind of impressive benchmark. a honda supercub gets something like 120mpg
>>2060866>>2060879an heavy ass honda civic gets about 40 averaging city and highway driving
>>2060879I'm saying....how the fuck does and Ecomobile get 100mpg, and better acceleration? Pulse published 100mpg at launch, which was like cut lumber. You lose two seats, half the width, and you only get fucking 40mpg? If we cant get ground up rationalism a about car design, and not a horseless carriage, what is the point? Where is my F1 derived fuel sipper with KERS, scuderi, 6 stroke steam, turbo super charge?Where is the sailplane fuelselage with a motor in it? I cant be the only one who has thought of it....>>2060899The one with all the fairings gets 100mpg https://aerocivic.com/
>>2060899imperial gallon is 20% more than us gallon, so those numbers are even less impressive
Ill give them one credit: they were smart enough to not have put deplorable outriggers unlike the up their own ass nerds at MIT. Grandma isnt gonna get used to her motorcycle falling over and "trusting the science" cause it saved 1% drag....cant lean in corners though...answer is to have a lockable outrigger, for nervous nellies/low stop and go traffic.
Doesn't this piece of questionable GM branded German technology get 40MPG?All it really requires is intact gaskets and the hydraulic tappets working mint.
>>2060909aero only optimizes mileage, it doesnt have that meaningful an impactwhat matters more is the quality of the engine and a little bit where its powerband is for that type/quality of engine. and power-to-weight matters a lot too. a shitty smart car still uses a plain and not even very good gas engine (and some come with equally shitty turbos!!) but they still outperform kei trucks/vans because the smart car is 99% plastic and weighs three pounds my buddy has a v6 charger (lmao) but he says it gets actually pretty good mileage because he never has to give it any power in normal start/stop driving, being a modern car is also mostly plastic, and he's a poorfag so it's not weighed down by a literal extra half-ton of luxury features (seriously you would not believe how much seemingly simple shit like door motors or a better "infotainment system" or door panel speakers weigh once you add it all up. niggas will get carbon fiber hoods to increase their Performance PCI Index by two points and then still have a subwoofer in the trunk, smdh)driving style matters as well, top gear did a thing where some ridiculous twin turbo v8 beamer was more "eco" than a prius in a "chase" because the prius banging the redline constantly naturally burns more fuel than the beamer revving at 2k in fifth gear not breaking a sweat. so trying to be a hoonigan with a four banger isnt going to save you money over the 6cyl boxer.
>>2061313All top gear said was a VW Lupo got 80mpg, so why get a prius. An uncle had a VW Quantum that got 80mpg.>>2061327I dont know how I haven't conveyed this is only about milage.>engine qualityI don't know how we all arent driving low cylinder turbo diesels. If friction losses are (x), isnt the only way for efficiency max, max compression ratio? Aren't hybrids backwards? It should be electric assist for launch, then ICE on a parabola for cruise? All my life you carry lots of cyclinders for launch, then you drag 800 pounds of metal around for pushing the swing set of cruising. People laughed off electric turbos, but is that so silly now? >accessory weightA carbon hood is still good hedging. Its like jogging then smoking. Stupid, but not as stupid as not exercising at all. Remember that VW commerical with the little speed demon in that guy's inner monologue? Telling him his girlfriend was just extra weight?I drove a charger and a challenger in the western u.s.. Even that v6 mustang. Americans have been getting shameful hp out of displacement forever. You seen how they react on top gear. I have a 80s Chevy with a 350 V8. It made 167hp if memory serves. Ive tried to explain to euros that your whipped engine goes 10 feet. That same Chevy had 300k miles on it, cause it was low rpms. Great strategy for a taxi or town car (extra weight for better ride too, rolls is 6k), but that is a wasteful crime for how americans abuse cars by distances. >driving styleWhich yt channel did the Vette versus prius cause the asshole host said the better aero and hypermiling would met or beat prius? >twin turbo beamerDrove one at pandemic start. Most expensive and best driving experience of my career. I picked up a Alfa Stelvio twin turbo from the factory. That was second....(girl car).
>>2061362>All top gear said was a VW Lupo got 80mpg, so why get a prius80 UKMPG is what... 73 USMPG? While the Prius gets >60MPG, without being anemic. >Aren't hybrids backwards? No, because even if your generator caps out at 40% capture, that is cumulatively a lot more than any part of the powerband where you are wasting fuel or the engine is under too light a load to get good delivery to the wheels. The problem is then that there is no real reason for a highly effective electric motor to have anemic horsepower output, but a lot of them are scaled to compete with ecoshitboxes instead of giving the Prius a slightly higher gear ratio and 200HP.>>2061327>driving styleA fucking meme. Its not a driving style, its "how much are you losing by braking?" All that is assuming the engine doesn't have like 1/3 or 1/4 fuel efficiency when accelerating, due anemic engine size or fucked geometry.
>>2061416>anemicKinda want that....only problem is found was a Mitsubishi Mirage 1.4 litter couldn't go the speed limit uphill in California mountains....>priusLes You mean LESS anemic?>not backwardBut has any hybrid used both engine and motor for launch? Its the whole problem stop and go driving? Constantly getting two tons up to speed then 10 cars stopping cause one wants to cross at a light?>not styleYou've watched the public drive? They race to red lights, and think its a drag track out of them. Big gay trucks they cant afford....fucking absolute world destroying toddlers.
>>2061418>But has any hybrid used both engine and motor for launch?Technically any of those with planetary gears can do it. Those without still need to deal with the fact first gear is the most ineffective, and usually worst geared. Then again>When anemia comes on slowly, the symptoms are often vague, such as tiredness, weakness, shortness of breath, headaches, and a reduced ability to exercise.[1] When anemia is acute, symptoms may include confusion, feeling like one is going to pass out, loss of consciousness, and increased thirst.Without being anemic is a very straight forward sentence. It just has the problem that it has been mogged by Tesla introducing normal BEV acceleration. The Prius drives like a dream compares to some of the ultra shitboxes that only exist due European car culture combined with higher MPG vehicle trends.
>>2061421If starter/alternator weren't abandoned to drive belt for failure insulation, it could have been starter /alternator/power assist/harmonic balancer/flywheel. New prius finally looks good. Still an idiotic living room on wheels....
>>2061362>Aren't hybrids backwards? It should be electric assist for launch, then ICE on a parabola for cruise?electric motors and batteries were shit at the time so it wasn't economical. now that they are good, there no reason not to have a full ev instead of a hybrid. by like 2010 you could have just had A FUCKING LEAF instead
>>2061424I looked a used leaf 5 years ago, it was still 8K....batteries have 92 times less energy density than petroleum.
>>2060866The "wings" trigger my inner child that likes to play with toy spaceships.>>2061312is this the one that won the X-Prize cup many years ago?
