Just getting hit by a car. Wasn't even that bad. Less "oh shit" and more, "I guess this is happening now..." as I proceed to get thrown to the ground.
No broken bones, just went to my regular doctor's office and got it inspected. Had to replace the bike because the shop wasn't sure they could repair the aluminum frame to a safe state after being stressed like that.

I got tboned by a car while riding. All I remember is a loud bang, everything going black, then waking up on the ground surrounded by people while I'm bleeding from my head, going in and out of consciousness. We get to the hospital and on my way to the ER the Dr tells me "I'm going to perform an emergency internal bleeding check alright?" I half consciously reply "yuaghuhhgh" then BOOM I get a full finger in the butt and wakes me up fully conscious. I don't want to get hit by another car again

I was riding a shove on a tank car for about 15 miles back to the yard around 10PM, and some idiot in a sprinter van limo stopped on the tracks. I bailed off entering the crossing and we only barely missed hitting him because he inched forward at the last second. I was furious and went up to the driver window, pounded on it, and cursed him up and down with a bright headlight pointing right in his face.

Near the same crossing(it was by a bunch of college bars) I kicked some idiot walking along the tracks in the back while riding the shove. I yelled and yelled before for him to move before, but he would have got clipped by the platform if I didn't kick him. He took a tumble but was drunk enough he didn't feel much. He gave me a fist bump and thanked me.

That really fucking sucks.
I helped attend to the scene of accident a year back. Some motorcyclist got sideswiped (I think? I heard it and then came to check it out) and thrown off the road entirely. Seemed like they dislocated their arm, and were dazed and confused enough that they wanted to like... just walk away or something? Me and the other witnesses just kind of tried to fence him in and keep him from wandering off, and from face-planting every time his legs gave out.
The internal bleeding thing reminded me of that, because one of the witnesses tried to give him water and I was like, "no-no-no, don't give anyone water after a car accident. If they are thirsty that's a possible symptom of internal bleeding and the water can make it worse."

I fucking hated riding shoves at night unless they were in the middle of nowhere or in the yard.
Way too many fucking stupid people would drive through the gates.
I did get to see a switch crew partner with the cops to just go back and forward over a busy crossing while the cops ticketed everyone that drove through. That was pretty fun.

I could have run around and pulled back, but then I'd have to run around again at the yard and they'd need two clear tracks. I opted to save myself an hour and a half and shoved back. I had classes in the morning and I was working and needed to sleep and study. It was pretty dope working 5 hours a night and getting paid for 10.

While riding my bicycle to work, in bright daylight, in a left turn on a slight hill, a car came speeding dead centre towards me, graybearded driver just drinking schnaps from a hip flask, on the wrong side of the road! Both of us looking at each other wide-eyed, immediatelly swerving to evade, missing each other by half an inch.

the worst time i ever fel tin the navy we were doing a fire exercise, and being all gung-ho i put whatever firesuit "fit" on

we got in there and i couldn't move after kneeling down once. the suit was just too tight. i got into some posture I couldn't get out of and spouted "I CAN'T MOVE!!" and the guys in the space suspended the exercise. I felt really bad because really it was literally just that my pants were too tight to get back up after kneeling. so the red hats stopped the whole thing (at least in that space).

but i learned an important lesson myself. only take gear that fits. the ship can burn to the fucking waterline. you won't help it not do that if you can't even move because your gear is too tight. you're useless to the team if you can't move around properly because you tried to put on the first thing available. and even then, it probably won't even work to keep you from burning to death if it's all pressed up from being that tight on you.

>Flying home at night in a midwinter storm
>Pilot really fighting with the weather
>Everyone onboard can hear it and feel it
>Get to destination airport
>Sudden downgust just as we get over the end of the runway!
>BAM!
>Hit the runway like a hammer!
>All overhead compartments pop, winter coats everywhere
>We're alive; cheers all round
>Taxi up to terminal like nothing happened
>Pilot apologizes for things being a "bit rough"
If it hadn't been pouring with rain, I'm sure many people would have kissed the ground after getting off.
Flights don't get much worse than that without becoming news stories.

Same here. Was crossing an intersection and a BMW turning right on a red light t-boned my bike. Fell on my side with the bike and got a couple bruises. The rim got bent out of shape so had to walk it home. The rest of the bike was fine though (steel frame).

In a 738 that did a slats, no flaps landing. Something felt wrong on approach with the deck angle, and in my head I was starting to get concerned. The next moment it was TOGA power. I am very sure we were seconds from a stall at 3,000 feet. The alternate electric system failed to extend the flaps so it was Vref + 45 kts on landing at PANC. Max manual brakes and full reverse, it still took more than 10k feet to slow and exit the runway.

I was almost hit in an on-ramp crosswalk on my bike when I was 14.

Head on into a car, bounced off the windshield, walked home.
Rode past the same car on another bike ten minutes later and the occupant calling the collision.
Bikes are fun sometimes.

Trying to cross any roads with freeway on-ramps and off-ramps was always fucking AIDs for me, especially since for me the road in question is a bridge that has a moderate uphill gradient so not only am I having to dodge Karens who feel way more entitled to use the onramp than they should even if its passed a pedestrian crossing but I have to go uphill while doing it. Luckily though, it's super easy to avoid since the other road over the freeway just a light down doesn't have onramps or offramps

Hit by driver not looking right at a stop sign to join a one way road. They only looked left cause everything is a car....

>going on weekend with buddies, one of them with a pilot license so we're borrowing a DA40 from his flying club rather than driving
>flight there uneventful
>3 days of boozing later, time to get back
>riding in the right seat on the flight back
>engine start, taxi, line-up, full throttle
>rotation
>*ding*
>hol'up, I can't remember the plane dinging at us on take-off any other time I flew with him
>pilot buddy keeps his composure
>check panel
>Master Caution on
>"anon, is-"
>raised hand to my face
>alright we got a problem serious enough for him not to waste attention talking about it
>check panel again
>ECU1 Fail
>ECU2 Fail
>Yep, that looks like a problem alright
>Buddy starts doing a lap
>throttle still fully open, engine load meter slowly but steadily going down
>60% by the time we're back on final
>clean landing anyway
>Talking is now allowed again
>"Guys, we're not flying home"
>call insurance, get a taxi within the hour and 4 first class seats on the next train back home
>it's a train strike day tho, have to get a bunch of tight-ass old ladies out of our booked seats
>another taxi waiting for us at the arrival station to drive us back to the flying club
>Buddy goes for a quick verbal murder of their mechanic (plane came out of the shop right before we took it)
>Total travel time : 7 hours rather than a cushy 2 hours flight.
Buddy later mentioned he hesitated between doing a lap back to the runway or just going straight after take-off, over a house, under a power line, and into a field. Everything else around that airfield was trees.
