I recently bought myself a gravel bike, and I think I made a mistake with the size choice. I'm 178 centimeters tall, and I bought size L. I chose the bike for bikepacking trips. Please tell me, how badly did I mess up, and is there anything that can be done?I already tried replacing the 80 mm stem with a 70 mm one with a 35-degree rise, but it's still uncomfortable. If I move the saddle forward, my arms get tired; if I move it back, there's pressure on my crotch.I don't know what to do. Bike was really expensive, and I am really upset.https://www.welt-bikes.com/int/en/bikes/gravel/g100?srsltid=AfmBOoomWCwXCkpeF1BI4s7ouy8IFDwJIQXgkUoUts0BFH6O2xLu-IQ2
>>2062719You need to return it and buy a medium. That’s the solution.
>>2062719Just buy a new one.
>be tiny>buy size large
>>2062719you probably belong on a small not a medium. There's nothing that will make a L work for you even slightly. Return it.
>>2062719I would try reducing the stack instead. Dropbars above the seat level are incredibly uncomfortable for me because I can't make the reach in the more upright riding position. Generally speaking going up a frame size or hardly fitting into the larger frame size is usually a bad idea since cranks and handlebars will be too long too so returning it might be smarter than changing every part of your new bike.
I can't return it. The only way to get money back is to sell it... But... That sounds like shit. Why did they say this bike will be OK for 172-182?
>>2062747They're allowing for weird body types not people who have no idea what they are doing. Contact their customer service and see if they'll do a swap, you might be surprised how little they care about rotating one slightly used bike into their demo fleet.
The reach doesn't look too unreasonable given your height. I would suggest playing with both fit/setup AND your riding technique. Have you used a drop bar bike before? Are you keeping a flat lower back. Are the balls of your feet over the pedal axle. What about the tilt of your bars?
>>2062749Bruh the effective top tube is almost 59cm. There's no way this bike is going to work for a short person.
>>2062750Lol, why 178 is short?
>>2062752I don't write the sizing conventions anonYou're on the low end of medium and the high end of small and most people prefer to size down on frame and run a longer stem/wider bars if necessary
>>2062748You should take this retarded post as a wake up call that you don’t know anything about bikes lol
>>2062761 was meant to reply to >>2062749
cease being a manlet simple as
>>2062749Well, I have a few times on a horns, but this is first bike of my own. And there is a problem with pedal axels. My knee is ahead of the pedal axle when the crank is at 3 o'clockLower back is flat... More or less.
>>2062719>be manlet>178cm>buys big boi size>help anon my bike to big>???
>>2062774It's strange, that 178 is a "manlet" for you, but I don't give a shit about it. That's a size chart, and it says that my size is L. And my hight is exactly at the middle. That's why I bought it, not because I want to buy a "big bou size"
>>2062775Ignore the shitposts brother, /n/ has been under some sort of low level raid for a month or so. The size you want is either S or M, and you want one or the other based on factors that you need to ride the bike to appreciate. There is no way you make yourself fit a large in any acceptable way.
To be fair that sizing is weird as fuck
>>2062780we can go ahead and call it objectively wrong
>>2062719Looks like OP has to...
>>2062747>company provides you an excel spreadsheet>columns have different data types all over the placeyour fault for trusting them
>>2062787excel is not a database tryhard, it's a word processor with columns and rows
>>2062788>spreadsheet program isn't for spreadsheetsJunior DBAs, place this nigga in the hyperbolic transaction tesseract
>>2062788Nah, you can do formulas anon.OP, I hope you can return and get the right size... you have consumer rights, right?
>>2062820>consumer rightswtf is this communist shit lmao. you ever hear of a little something called "caveat emptor" ?
>>2062830I refuse to be a good goy.
>>2062820I can't. The only way is to sell it. I will do it, when it's going to be a spring time, but... Fuck, that sucks. I will try 60mm stem anyway.
>>2062787It's an excel sheet because the bikes of the L and M sizes are already sold. I can't send you a screenshot of a gOoD_dEsIgNeD shop page, cos there is only a "SOLD OUT" text, or XL size.
Ok, what do you think of this one? The M size. I am 178 hight, and going to ride long bike trips.
>>2062719You bought completely the wrong size. Road bike fit requires precision. Don't skip reach and stack. Do all the measurments.>>2062850>I will try 60mm stem anyway.Figure out where your hands should fucking be FIRST. >>2062775>It's strange, that 178 is a "manlet" for you, but I don't give a shit about it.By performance road it is. >>2062788Whatever it is, it's wrong. Show them one of the other countries sizing charts, that's a little more reasonable when you beg for an exchange or swap.
>>2062853the dude got one of those adventure gravel bikes with enduro tier stack and not a performance road bike
>>2062854Exactly. So, should I adapt it, or there is no other options then sell it?
>>2062719>I'm 178 centimeters tall, and I bought size LWhy? Look at the Effective top tube height, that's really long.I'm 181cm and my bikes are usually either Large/53-54cm top tube length and it still feels like it's too large for me. I also apparently have weird proportions (shorter legs/long torso) which makes the exposed seatpost really short.Try buying compact dropbars (short reach) or 0 offset seatpost.Long story short, try out the bike before buying it.>but I'm buying onlineTry a bike with similar geometry from your LBS
>>2062858>he thinks bike shops still exist outside of california
>>2062858>Try buying compact dropbars (short reach) or 0 offset seatpost.Do not buy shit until you know where the fuck your hands should be.
