I am 37 and got fired from my tech job of 16 years over something stupid. My product manager was mad about it and promises to be a great reference in looking for a new job and I have a security clearance which is very valuable. All that plus my experience I think I can get another similar job pretty easily. However I am tired of tech. I own ~$700k of company stock that I will receive in a year and a half. Tell me how stupid of a plan this is.
>sell house for ~$300k profit
>use house profit to rent an apartment and pay for flight school
>in 1.5 years be probably making peanuts as CFI but can buy a house cash
>in a few years be making big bucks again as commercial pilot
I also have about $100k of crypto that can be leveraged if need be. Why the hell not?
>>
Go LARP on /biz/.

Kek well I guess it can't be too terrible a plan if people don't believe it
>>

No people just think you're a loser and this has nothing to due with transportation its a blog post. Probably a good idea to get out of tech though all you code bots have been replaced.

>>in 1.5 years be probably making peanuts as CFI but can buy a house cash
So your plan is to go straight from flight school to being an instructor at a flight school, and only AFTER that get actual commercial transport hours?

techbros and code monkeys truly are stupid

Thanks y-you too. I thought this was the board with all the pilots.

>>2065294
What is the fastest route? Even if the flying costs more it may be cheaper to spend less time hemorrhaging money.
>>
>>2065292
op samefagging, no one says this board is about "transportation", they would say it is about bikes/trains/urbanism/vehicles that aren't /o/

>I have about a million dollars of at least semi-liquid assets, but omg i am panicking!!!
I heard from a tik tok that pilots make super mega bank and fuck twink stewards all day, how do I get this money????
bizarre LARP but I will not besmirch a man for dreaming

I am sitting pretty comfy and considering a complete career change. Just wondering how other anons did the pilot thing and wondering if it's a terrible idea.
>>
>>2065301
You know what PLANE stands for, right? Bust Out Another Thou, hehehe.
>>
>>2065302
From what I have read it is about $100k to get into actually making money flying. Not counting living expenses. I think I can swing it.

Its seriously unbelievable how faggots who work in tech literally do nothing but brag about how much money they have even when its completely irrelevant. Literally all of them. This is a board about transportation and you needed to come in to blog post about your tech job, your million dollars in company stock, how many hundreds of thousands of dollars youll make selling your house how you'll buy another house in cash, and your $100,000 in crypto. And of course needing to mention how you want to make a ton of money as a pilot too.

You don't even have a question that relates to this board. Apparently you're asking about flight school, but there's no question behind it, and you used to to blogpost bragging about being a millionaire

I hope you die very early of a painful cancer so all the money you brag incessantly about can never be enjoyed by you and you take your last breaths at 45 alone in a hospital bed looking at your portfolio number and smiling.

I also have a wife and 3 kids. I do not believe the weird issue some people have about never discussing money is helpful. I gave the financial situation because becoming a pilot is retard expensive. An amount that seemed insurmountable when I was a high school kid thinking about future careers. Money is absolutely relevant. Perhaps even the most relevant thing. Every pilot here started with a decent nest egg I guarantee you that.

Please tell me what your $700,000 in tech stock has to do with becoming a pilot. Please tell me what your $300,000 profit from selling your house (which makes no sense since you have "a wife and 3 kids" so why would you just sell your house) has to do with becoming a pilot. Please tell me what your $100,000 in crypto has to do with becoming a pilot.

None of it has anything to do with becoming a pilot. So what's your question here exactly? That it costs a lot of money to go to flight school or something? So then cash out your crypto and pay for flight school. Obviously it won't even make a dent in your millions you have already set aside, and then once you become a pilot, you'll be making your big bucks and make that money back quickly anyway.

Take your 16 years of tech experience where you have never produced anything that has made a single quantifiable positive impact on society, go become a rich pilot, and never post here again.

It is a big dent that will set back retirement for years and you don't make good money for a pretty long while. Purely monetarily this makes no sense, I am considering it because it's cool, a childhood dream, and I'm tired of killing my soul sitting in front of a screen all day every day. Selling the house is not the only course, I could simply work somewhere else for 1.5 years too, but that's 1.5 more years of screen waging and there is a max age for commercial pilots that limits how much seniority I will be able to get. Sorry to cause so much seethe I guess geeze dude.

Cool man. I'll humor your fake larp story, like any genius rich tech employee married with 3 kids would be stupid enough to come to a 4chan board and an extremely slow one at that to ask them about a major life decision

Cash out your crypto and use your product manager's great reference for a new job (another extremely relevant and important detail to mention in this story about becoming a pilot, along with your millions you already have and are coming to you) and go become a pilot. Then never post here again, and hopefully you'll die in a plane crash sometime in your 40s and the world will be rid of another autistic insufferable tech employee who has never positively contributed to society and has nothing in their lives except watching their net worth number go up. While you're at it, go check out all the AI commercials that aired in the Super Bowl so you can watch how your gay ass industry is continuing to ruin society and destroy the future of humanity. But as long as all you tech pieces of shit get your money, you couldn't give less of a shit of how much of a plague you have been to society.

I ask 4chan about all my major life decisions. You don't?
