"Micromobility" is the biggest scam foisted on modern transportation. No developed society does this, only 3rd world shitholes like Southeast Asia

Im seeing e bikes more in every town i visit, its real. Rednecks ebiking to their fishing holes is wholesome

those seem like fun toys but not legitimate modes of transportation.
how much heavier than an ebike are they? and for something you can't pedal when the battery dies

No, they're the most /n/ form of transport now. They're lighter and more portable than ebikes and can achieve same speeds, some models can do 60mph+, but their problem is low range and even more dangerous than ebikes or escooters. Train/bus + one wheel is such an overpowered combo, micromobility has been the biggest boon in the resurgence of urbanism

I worked with a guy who had one, basically yeah the thing weighs as much as a car battery and fits in a normal backpack, so if you're going somewhere where you don't need to carry much on you (i.e. 99% of office workers and vacationers) they're pretty ideal except for safety and looking like a huge fucking dork.

but on a chinesium folder (electric or not) you and it together are one big crumple zone anyway and it's not like you can't just wear some motorcycle leathers on >>2066319 to absorb little bumps and protect ya neck so the only thing left is looking like a huge dork and their generally poor handling

range is also a factor but keep in mind most e-bikes/e-scooters are not ridiculous 120km range models, and most basically use the equivalent of a lithium car battery. I have such a model for my e-bike and it gets me around 10km on a charge at very lazy pedalling (basically only for hills) and when i looked up the real data sheet for the thing it advertises a MUCH longer range on throttle-only and literally lists "PAS" mode as "infinite range!!" (when in reality if the battery is flat it's a huge amount of resistance and it only doesn't feel like it because these things never truly leave PAS mode, they use the hall sensors to try to maintain their current rotation speed and that still drains the battery)
