Congressman Tim Burchett has made startling claims, suggesting that non-human entities (NHIs) could have been present on Earth for millennia, operating submerged bases, according to direct accounts from Navy personnel, which he cites as his main source.

In a recent interview with Washington, D.C. journalist Matt Laslo of Ask a Pol, Burchett stated that these entities “are on this Earth for who knows how long” and that, while many believe they come from far away, “maybe they came millennia ago, but they are here and in these deep-water areas.”

The Tennessee congressman, who serves on the House Oversight and Accountability Committee, referred to data indicating a concentration of Unidentified Submerged Objects (USOs) in five or six deep-ocean regions, where sightings are more likely. According to Burchett, Navy personnel have directly reported encounters with underwater vessels moving at “hundreds of miles per hour,” while human technology reaches only about 40 miles per hour underwater. This speed discrepancy represents a technological gap that, according to current underwater physics, would be impossible, given that water is roughly 800 times denser than air.

In January 2025, during an appearance on One America News hosted by former Congressman Matt Gaetz, Burchett publicly elaborated on these theories for the first time. Referring to sonar capabilities, he said:

>“When they tell me something is moving hundreds of miles per hour underwater, and our capabilities are, I don’t think we have anything going 40 miles per hour, and these things, this one, it was as big as a football field, underwater. And that was a documented case. And I have an admiral telling me these things.”

When Gaetz asked if he believes submerged bases exist, Burchett confirmed:

Burchett’s claims gain further context when compared to recent government acknowledgments of unexplained phenomena. The Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, expressed uncertainty about recent drone incidents in New Jersey, stating:

This pattern, in which public officials voice private doubts while providing official explanations, has become increasingly common in discussions of UAPs.

Through these statements, Burchett presents a perspective that differs from the traditional extraterrestrial visitation narrative. Rather than seeing UAPs as visitors from space, he suggests we may be dealing with native Earth entities that have inhabited our oceans long before human civilization. Considering that oceans cover more than 70% of the planet and only 10 to 15% of the seafloor has been explored, vast areas could harbor such activity without detection.
