A Red Mass honoring the judiciary is held at the cathedral each year before the start of the high court’s term. > They said the man had been barred from the cathedral premises but refused to leave and was arrested. > During the arrest, officers saw “suspicious items” including vials of liquid and possible fireworks in the tent. A bomb unit and arson investigators were sent to the scene, police said. >>
Anonymous 10/06/25(Mon)16:55:50 No. 1445274 >>1445273 > It was not clear why the man was at the cathedral, why he had the items, or why police thought he had a molotov cocktail, a type of firebomb. > Louis Geri, 41, of Vineland, New Jersey, was charged on a preliminary basis with unlawful entry, threats to kidnap or injure and possession of a molotov cocktail, the police said. > Police said the scene had been secured and there was no threat to public safety. They said an investigation was continuing, in coordination with federal authorities. > Several members of the Supreme Court as well as other dignitaries typically attend the annual Mass. Its history can be traced to Europe and the Middle Ages. > The name recalls the scarlet robes worn by judges of royal tribunals of that day. In Washington, the Red Mass dates to the 1950s. Fin~>>
