Anonymous Day 17: The Democrat Shutdown (...) 10/17/25(Fri)20:30:22 No. 1448773 17th daily thread covering The 2025 Democrat Shutdown of the US Government Day 17 Updates: - CNBC: Democrats claim that they refuse to negotiate with Republicans because they don't like Trump: https://www.cnbc.com/2025/10/17/government-shutdown-trump-gang-democrats.html - Democrats reject bill once again: https://halifax.citynews.ca/video/2025/10/17/u-s-government-shutdown-continues-into-another-week-as-democrats-reject-bill-once-again/ - The 2025 Democrat Shutdown becomes the third longest US federal shutdown in history: https://www.cbsnews.com/live-updates/government-shutdown-2025-latest-senate-day-17/ - ICE will still be paid: https://www.reuters.com/world/us/some-federal-law-enforcement-receive-pay-during-government-shutdown-2025-10-16/ The issue is caused by Democrats being angry that when they wanted emergency corporate subsidies to health companies they set them to expire in 2026, but now that it is nearly 2026, they are angry that the corporate subsidies are expiring. >>

Anonymous 10/17/25(Fri)21:11:18 No. 1448781 The Republicans created this situation when they used the nuclear option to pass the One Big Beautiful Bill, which created the CR at the center of the current shutdown, with a simple majority of 51, meaning not even all Republican Senators voted in favor of it. They did this knowing it would lead to an eventual deadline where they would either need Democrat votes or to use the nuclear option to avoid a shutdown. Republicans are refusing to use the nuclear option which would allow them to end the shutdown right now. Republicans are refusing to make any concessions at all to Democrats to entice them to vote for the CR the Republicans are forcing through. The Republican Speaker of the House is refusing to call the House into session until the shutdown ends, meaning even if Senate Republicans wanted to make concessions, they can't because they would need to be sent to the House for approval before they could be ratified. Everything I've posted here is objectively true, and the only responses to this will either be personal attacks, deflection, or whataboutism. >>

Anonymous 10/17/25(Fri)23:50:50 No. 1448839 >>1448838 The Democrats literally drafted the legislation themselves that stipulated these corporate subsidies would expire in 2026.
