What did they do? They passed COVID emergency corporate subsidies to health insurance companies during COVID, and set them to expire on Jan 1, 2026. Now that these subsidies are expiring as planned, they are angry and shutting down the government. >>
Anonymous 10/18/25(Sat)21:17:09 No. 1449047 Reminder: The Republicans created this situation when they used the nuclear option to pass the One Big Beautiful Bill, which created the CR at the center of the current shutdown, with a simple majority of 51, meaning not even all Republican Senators voted in favor of it. They did this knowing it would lead to an eventual deadline where they would either need Democrat votes or to use the nuclear option to avoid a shutdown. Republicans are refusing to use the nuclear option which would allow them to end the shutdown right now. Republicans are refusing to make any concessions at all to Democrats to entice them to vote for the CR the Republicans are forcing through. The Republican Speaker of the House is refusing to call the House into session until the shutdown ends, meaning even if Senate Republicans wanted to make concessions, they can't because they would need to be sent to the House for approval before they could be ratified. Everything I've posted here is objectively true, and the only responses to this will either be personal attacks, deflection, or whataboutism. >>

Anonymous 10/18/25(Sat)22:19:43 No. 1449061 >>1449047 Democrats started all of this because Republicans had to use the nuclear option because Democrats refused to clear Trump's appointees six months into his term for no reason other than voting no.>>

Anonymous 10/19/25(Sun)10:36:52 No. 1449196 Embarrassing that a Democrat president could let the government be shut down. Funny, how Trump makes the poor suffer, he didn't rescind the 200 million ballroom or the 1 billion dollar jet refitting, nope, he cut your food stamps in time for Thanksgiving. I wonder if he will hand out turkeys like other mob bosses, tooting his horn the whole time. >>
