20th daily thread covering The 2025 Democrat Shutdown of the United States Government

Day 20 Updates:
- (The Hill) Democrats block bill to end government shutdown for 11th time - https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/5564176-government-shutdown-vote-senate/
- (ABC) Government shutdown updates: Johnson says he'd administer oath to Grijalva 'on the 1st day we come back' https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/live-updates/government-shutdown-live-updates/?id=126242587

- (The Hill) Trump administration puts 1,400 nuclear staffers on furlough https://thehill.com/policy/energy-environment/5564461-nnsa-furloughs-staff-government-shutdown/

The issue is caused by Democrats. What did they do? They passed COVID emergency corporate subsidies to health insurance companies during COVID, and set them to expire on Jan 1, 2026. Now that these subsidies are expiring as planned, they are angry and shutting down the government.

Why won't Democruds just TACO?

Because even Mexicans hate them?

WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH DEMONRATS!?
>>
So what republican think tank is paying for these lying threads to be made every day?
>>
>>1449769
Reminder:
The Republicans created this situation when they used the nuclear option to pass the One Big Beautiful Bill, which created the CR at the center of the current shutdown, with a simple majority of 51, meaning not even all Republican Senators voted in favor of it. They did this knowing it would lead to an eventual deadline where they would either need Democrat votes or to use the nuclear option to avoid a shutdown.
Republicans are refusing to use the nuclear option which would allow them to end the shutdown right now.
Republicans are refusing to make any concessions at all to Democrats to entice them to vote for the CR the Republicans are forcing through.
The Republican Speaker of the House is refusing to call the House into session until the shutdown ends, meaning even if Senate Republicans wanted to make concessions, they can't because they would need to be sent to the House for approval before they could be ratified.
Everything I've posted here is objectively true, and the only responses to this will either be personal attacks, deflection, or whataboutism.

Democrats voted against funding the government. Republicans arent saving them from the mess they created.

I just read the first article and it's literally named "Democrats block bill to end government shutdown for 11th time"

I know you hate reality, but come on man, you got to deal with it at some point

You dont. Someone at some time utterly btfo you with "you're not American" and now you reflexively repeat it thinking that it has the same effect on others that it had on you.

Deal with what? It isn't the dems fault Republicans refuse to compromise.

Just checked, it looks like it's the Democrats that are shutting down the government

Senate
Democrats block bill to end government shutdown for 11th time
by Al Weaver - 10/20/25 6:25 PM ET

The Senate on Monday voted against reopening the federal government for the 11th time, pushing the shutdown to the three-week mark with both sides at loggerheads and unable to break the impasse.

The chamber voted 50-43 on the House-passed continuing resolution to fund the government through late November. It needed 60 votes to pass.

Sens. Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) and Angus King (I-Maine) once again crossed party lines and sided with Republicans. Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.), who had previously voted in favor of the measure, did not vote on Monday.

Sen. Rand Paul (Ky.) was the lone Senate GOP “no” vote.

The tally came days after the “No Kings” rallies in Washington and across the country, with Republicans hopeful that a deal could come together with those events in the rearview mirror.

However, there remain precious few signs that the stalemate will dissolve in the near term, likely ensuring that it will extend into a fourth week and potentially into November.

In remarks on the floor Monday, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) said the Democratic position “remains the same.”
>>
>>1449822
The best part is the media thought their media event, No Kings, would've been effective to do anything.
Gave me a chuggle.
>>
>>1449822
Ok but when are the republicans going to learn how to compromise? Dems aren't going to vote for a bill that leaves 20 million americans off healthcare.
>>1449837
>the media invented No Kings
Now this is a right wing conspiracy theory I haven't heard yet. Tell me more.
>>
>>1449842
>Ok but when are the republicans going to learn how to compromise?
What is the compromise?
>>
>>1449844
Republicans need 60 votes and they need more democrats to support their spending bill. I wonder how they could do that.
>>
>>1449848
>their spending bill
Its not a spending bill. So, what is the compromise?
>>
>>1449844
>What is the compromise?
Oh, just give us everything we want, as usual.
>>
>>1449850
Keeping 20 million Americans on ACA, duuuh.
>>1449852
>everything we want
Now you're being hyperbolic.
>>
I might actually go vote this year since Democrats are collectively such huge fuckups that it's possible (probably not) that just maybe we can oust the stupid fucks from my city government.
>>
>>1449855
>Keeping 20 million Americans on ACA, duuuh.
What's the compromise?
>>
>>1449848
Yeah but what's actually happening here? A budget got passed by elected officials, Democrats didn't like it sure, but voters didn't elect enough of them in 2024 for Democrats to pass a budget they wanted, so tough beans.

Now it's time to actually spend the money in the budget that was agreed upon, and they *do* have enough votes to shutdown the government by not letting the bill actually be voted on. So now, instead of just taking the crappy hand that voters dealt them, they are shutting down the entire government to stamp their feet like children over the fact that they lost bigly in 2024.

Honestly they need to suck it up, Wait until next election, get some more Congress people elected from their side, and they can pass a budget they want.

Why is that so fucking difficult
>>
>>1449858
retard
>>1449859
There hasn't been an actual budget passed since Obama was president, >voters didn't elect enough of them in 2024 for Democrats to pass a budget they wanted, so tough beans.
voters didn't elect 60 Republican senators either, so they have to give up something to make Democrats vote for their shit. Simple as.
>>
>>1449863
>retard
com·pro·mise
/ˈkämprəˌmīz/

an agreement or a settlement of a dispute that is reached by each side making concessions.

What is the compromise here?
>>
>>1449864
I keep telling you 20 million people keeping their healthcare who would be kicked off under the GOP continuing resolution as it exists today. If the GOP put forth a bill that did that the shutdown would be over. That's the compromise. Instead republicans make up lies about illegal migrants getting healthcare when they aren't even eligible for it.
>>
>>1449867
Funding the Government, keeping troops paid and keeping the courts and food stamps funded is the "concession" democrats will be making?
>>
>>1449868
Schumer already said the dems would vote for the bill today as long as they take out the part about kicking 20 million people off healthcare. I don't know why this is hard for you.
>>
>>1449871
What "concession" are democrats making?
>>
>>1449872
They're voting for all of Trump's (really Stephen Miller's and Russ Vought's) bullshit, but without the part about kicking 20 million people off healthcare.
>>
>>1449873
None of Trumps or Millers bullshit is being asked for. Republicans have asked for nothing at all.

So what "concession" are Democrats making?
>>
>>1449874
I'm sorry you decided to play dumb today, but you already know the revoking of the funds happened in the "Big Beautiful Bill". Dems aren't going to vote for anything the GOP puts forward until its restored.
>>
>>1449877
Big Beautiful Bill is not up for a vote. A continuing resolution is up for a vote. Republicans arent asking for anything.

So, tell me what concession Democrats will be making.
>>
>>1449878
>Big Beautiful Bill is not up for a vote
I never said it was.
>Republicans arent asking for anything.
I know that, Your reading comprehension is shit. Reread the last sentence in >>1449877
>>
>>1449880
>I know that
So if you know Republicans aren't asking for anything, how can they make a "concession"?
>>
>>1449883
Because they need 60 votes and they don't have it. Why is this hard for you?
>>
>>1449884
So Democrats do not want Republicans to "compromise". They want Republicans to give them something in exchange for nothing.
>>
>>1449887
>20 million people getting healthcare are "nothing"
This is why Republicans are going to lose every election for the foreseeable future.
>>
>>1449889
Okay, sure. But you admit Democrats are not looking for a "compromise"?
>>
>>1449891
No I will not admit that. They already compromised by offering to fund Trump's clown show if Republicans take out the BBB provision cutting the funding for healthcare. Republicans need Dems to get to 60 one way or the other so they better do something to make the Dems want to vote for their bills if they want the government opened.
>>
>>1449893
>take out the BBB provision cutting the funding for healthcare
There is no BBB provision cutting the funding for healthcare. The tax credits expire because Democrats voted for them to expire.

Its really quite pathetic that you cant even own what you're doing. Democrats are not seeking a "compromise". Its power politics, but you losers are so feminized you cant even own it. And, fyi, Republicans arent folding any time soon. We're enjoying the shutdown.
>>
>>1449897
>There is no BBB provision cutting the funding for healthcare.
It already passed without funding 20 million people.
>Its really quite pathetic that you cant even own what you're doing
The only pathetic thing is that the GOP is trying and failing to kick 20 million people off healthcare. Good luck trying to win the midterms with that.
>>
>>1449900
>Good luck trying to win the midterms with that.
Yeah, polling is looking great actually. D+3 is fantastic for us. With redistricting we may even expand our control over the House.
>>
>>1449904
>polling is looking great actually
Delusional. It's like you think the 20 million people the GOP wants to kick off healthcare aren't going to vote.
>>
>>1449908
Lets find out.
>>
>>1449897
>The tax credits expire because Democrats voted for them to expire.
One million percent this
>>
>>1449908
I doubt any of those 20 million people enjoy the ridiculous ACA APTC process.
>>
>>1449912
>>1449913
I like it how libs are so broken that their new argument is
>please let us win think about the midterms
lmao.

Breaking the libs in this shutdown is all about the midterms. We're going to completely and totally demoralize the entire party.
>>
>>1449918
>We're
Who?
>>
>>1449922
>Who?
The entire Republican party. From everyday voters to the Whitehouse.

Do you seriously think we care what you losers call us? If that shit worked Hillary would of won. It doesn't.

>The US government shutdown has been going on for 20 days and literally no one cares.
What a bizarre country.
>>
>>1449946
Trump isnt being a petty faggot like Obama was when Republicans shut it down. POTUS can make it extremely painful if he or she wants to.
>>
>>1449934
Yes I know you care deeply because it's one of the things you people constantly complain about (besides black and brown people and troons).
>>
>>1449952
OK, troon
>>
>>1449959
>>>/lgbt/
>>
Why can't republicans reach across the isle? Are they still mad about Charlie Kirk?
>>
>>1449982
I think it was around 2010 when the Tea Party started refusing to compromise with anything, sometimes with their own party. Since Trump hijacked the Tea Party it's become mainstream for all Republicans.
>>
>>1449982
They are mad about their micro-penises, always been the problem.
>>
>>1449982
The Republicans put a clean CR forward. Democrats are voting no because they want to add 1.5 trillion to the debt
>>
>>1449946
if you're not brown or black and on welfare, then you can't tell a difference, because there is none.
>>
It's an interesting dynamic, really. Democrats are trying to bargain with leverage they don't have, which is why the shutdown is taking so long.
Democrats thought "even though the budget passed and we don't like it, we can just shutdown the government until it gets changed"
Thing is, trump doesn't care if the government is shut down, that's an excuse to downsize it even further. All the senators are happy playing the blame game, they don't care either. Congress is the same way, they are perfectly happy shutting down Congress until the government is opened back up
What Democrats are trying to bargain with isn't giving them very much leverage at all.

But truthfully, not a single senator or congressperson should be paid before a single federal employee. If they shut down the government they should not be exempt from its immediate consequences. Not a single senator or congressperson should be collecting a paycheck for failing to perform their constitutional duties, but sadly, it's not like that
>>
>>1449769
its still so hilarious the retards who vote for a party that removes democratic voice and declares a candidate for them by royal degree your king is biden, the next one kamala fall in line no democracy here.. is projecting that the republicans who had a choice in their candidate are "king".

Democrat voters are retarded its borderline a requirement to vote democrat.
>>
>>1450445
>Biden and Kamala tipped over my trash last night
kek
>>
>>1450445
>Why didn't they have another primary only a few months from the election that would've gotten the same result

Meanwhile every republican primary is literally just a competition for Trump's VP. He didn't even attend the last one and the party is so utterly cucked by him they didn't just make him candidate again, they fucking put his niece in charge.
>>
>>1450445
You type like you're falling down the stairs.
>>
>>1450445
Reminder that Trump never did any primaries he just demanded to run again.
>>
>>1450454
>bitching about grammar the last bastion of the losers of an argument

i accept your concession
>>
>>1449769
Why do democrats lie constantly?
