President Trump, in a statement sure to send the right wing shills of /news/ scrambling for new talking points, acknowledges Republicans not only have the power to end the shutdown right now using the "nuclear option", but should use it

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/trump-urges-gop-end-shutdown-going-nuclear-senate-filibuster

President Donald Trump on Thursday urged Republicans to end the filibuster in order to end the monthlong government shutdown.

In a late-night Truth Social post, Trump noted that Democrats had tried to eliminate the Senate procedure when they had control of both chambers of Congress and the White House during the Biden administration, but then-Sens. Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema — both of whom have since left the Democratic Party to become independents — helped block the effort.

Trump revived talk of the "nuclear option," after returning from his Asia trip this week.

"The one question that kept coming up, however, was how did the Democrats SHUT DOWN the United States of America, and why did the powerful Republicans allow them to do it?" Trump wrote. "The fact is, in flying back, I thought a great deal about that question, WHY?"

The president praised Senate Majority Leader John Thune and House Speaker Mike Johnson for "doing a GREAT job," but blasted Democrats as "crazed lunatics" suffering from "Trump Derangement Syndrome."

"They want Trillions of Dollars to be taken from our Healthcare System and given to others, who are not deserving — People who have come into our Country illegally, many from prisons and mental institutions," Trump wrote. "This will hurt American citizens, and Republicans will not let it happen."

Republicans and Democrats remain at an impasse over how to end the shutdown, now in its fourth week, with both sides trading blame for the stalemate.
>>
Trump added that Republicans, who now hold control of Congress and the White House, should play their "Trump card" and go for the "nuclear option."

"Get rid of the Filibuster, and get rid of it, NOW!" he wrote.

Trump added that Democrats "fought so hard" to end the filibuster under Biden but failed. Now, he argued, Republicans should abolish the procedure to advance their own agenda and end the shutdown.

"[I]f we did what we should be doing, it would immediately end this ridiculous, country-destroying shutdown," Trump said.

He added that Democrats would "do it on their first day" if they regained power.

"In addition to all of the other things we would get, such as the best Judges, the best U.S. Attorneys, the best of everything, this was a concept from years ago of then President Barack Hussein Obama and former Majority Leader Harry Reid in order to take advantage of the Republicans. Now I want to do it in order to take advantage of the Democrats," Trump added.

The president was referring to former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's 2013 decision to eliminate the 60-vote threshold for most executive branch and judicial nominees. The Senate, with a Democrat majority, voted 52–48 in 2013 to eliminate the 60-vote requirement.
>>
Trump finally saying what everyone has known for a month
Republicans can end this shutdown anytime they want without a single Democrat
They were just hoping they could inflict as much suffering as possible on the American people so that Democrats would cave
If someone has the power to bring a resolution to a problem and refuses to use it, they own that problem
>>
They don't want to get rid of the filibuster because then they can't use it later. But that's not Trump's problem, so he doesn't care.
>>
>>1453862
Republicans dint give a shit about setting dangerous precedent because they’re all hypocrites. Everything they do is okay as long as they disavow it when somebody else does it later
>>
>>1453862
So they want to keep their ability to use the filibuster in the future, but want Democrats to voluntarily not use the filibuster right now?
>>
>>1453857
For the Anon that thinks every Trump voter reveres Cheeto Jesus and bows before him, I want to let you know that I don't agree with the dRumpster on this one.
I think the current process should be upheld and Democrats should remain losers forever.

No Trump - let the democrats continue the government shutdown as long as THEY want it to go on for… Inevitably they end the shutdown but the longer THEY continue it the more trouble THEY get into for continuing this nonsense.

Trump for 2028?!? I think NOT. He doesn’t think ahead well enough. It’s just plain better to let the Dems OWN this shutdown not end it early. I don’t want 12 years total of a president who can’t see that. Elect somebody new - somebody who can really win at politics!
>>
>>1454096
>Guess we can't discuss it anymore.
No. Let's go ahead and discuss it. What is the % of SNAP recipients that aren't employed, disabled, kids, elderly? Or how bout what is the fraud rate of SNAP?

This seems important to you so let's hash this shit out with numbers.

>>1454053
>No one in snap is starving
>No one in a program that feeds people is starving
>So let's just cut that program

>>
>>1454102
>Or how bout what is the fraud rate of SNAP?
Interesting question. The new funding bill reduces federal snap payments to states with high rates of fraud. The higher rate, the lower the payment.
The national rate of payments sent to people who should not be receiving snap is 11% https://www.fns.usda.gov/newsroom/fns-0003.25
Alaska is sky high in snap mispayments, at 22%. Most (blue) states are above the national average of errors, most red states are below the national average of error https://fns-prod.azureedge.us/sites/default/files/resource-files/snap-fy24QC-PER.pdf
>>
>>1454106
>The new funding bill reduces federal snap payments to states with high rates of fraud. The higher rate, the lower the payment.
Wait so this just punishes the people who do need the program in those states then? That's fucked; imagine losing your benefits because someone else in the same state misused them.
>>
>>1454107
Or just give it to the Americans that need it and not millions of illegals

Or, alternatively, stop taking it away from millions of americans because thousands of illegal find their way to it.

Everything that's happening here, including the Left's refusal to end the shutdown, hinges on their unwavering support for illegal immigrants receiving federal aid.
>Quick recap for the unitiated:
Passing a continuing resolution to extend funding so the government can reopen requires 60 votes in the Senate. There are currently 53 Republican Senators.
The Senate has voted on a new CR numerous times.
All of the GOP Senators (except Rand Paul) have voted to pass a new CR.
All Democrat Senators, except for Fettertardman, Angus King, and one or two others, keep voting against a new CR.
The Republicans are the ones who keep voting in favor of a CR to reopen the government. The reason it hasn't passed is because 53 GOP Senators minus 1 lolbert plus 3 basedtard Dems, is still less than 60.
When Democrats say that Republicans are refusing to negotiate or compromise, or that Republicans are why the government is shut down, that is complete bullshit intended to confuse low information democrats. There is nothing to negotiate. All it takes is a few more Dems voting yes on the CR and the government would reopen immediately, SNAP payments would go out, etc.
What the Democrats are really trying to do is force the GOP to agree to extending Obamacare health insurance handouts to illegals and poorfags. That is a completely separate issue which has nothing directly to do with the government shutdown or a new CR.
The Dems are refusing to pass a new CR because they are trying to force the GOP to agree to extend the ACA handouts to illegals as a compromise, in exchange for the Dems agreeing to pass a new CR.
The Democrats don't seem to understand that most Republicans really don't give a shit about the non-essential (ie the worthless parts that shouldn't exist in the first place) government being shut down or niggers not getting they food stamps.
Oh, and every stupid leftist faggot insisting that illegals don't receive aid is lying

>>
>>1454137
>Passing a continuing resolution to extend funding so the government can reopen requires 60 votes in the Senate
And since funding SNAP doesn't require reopening the government, that doesn't matter.

Also it's 50 votes. They can just nuke the filibuster.

You just bitched a fuckton about meaningless bullshit and lied while doing it.
>>
>>1454144

>>
>>1454126
> 40 million illegals on snap
Look up how many people are on snap moron
>>
We've reached the next stage of MAGA justification on the SNAP issue. Blaming it on the democrats didn't work, so now they're shifting to saying that SNAP itself is actually bad and it not being funded is a good thing. Because of illegals, naturally.
Can you people not just be fucking honest? Just say you hate poor people and want them to starve, or that you just don't care if poor people starve. Throw some racist bullshit in there too, why not? You've already taken over the government, it's not like there's any consequence to saying the quiet part out loud anymore. Are you seriously such fucking pussies that you can be in this spot of absolute strength and STILL don't have the balls to tell the truth? Fuck, man, if that's the case then maybe we'll make it after all.
>>
>>1454181
geez, its just a generalization
we know there's only 15 million illegals in the country since Trump removed 6 million so far this year and there was 23 million. So its OBVIOUS that we really mean that each illegal is really just getting 2.8 times the amount of snap they should
and before you get your panties caught in your dickstump, thats just a generalization since just one illegal gets food for their whole family to hide that there on snap so its one illegal getting 20x snap, moren!
>>
>>1454192
>generalization
The word you're looking for is "lie," moren.
>>
>>1454188
Why can't we blame it on Democrats (it's their fault) and think SNAP is actually bad?
I don't really. SNAP is one of the best managed government programs.
But why can't someone think both?
Is this the "You can only do one thing at a time" fallacy?
>>
>>1454198
Because "It's the Democrats fault no one is getting food through SNAP, but also we shouldn't be running SNAP at all" is contradictory. Saying it is simultaneously a good thing that SNAP isn't running but also a bad thing that SNAP isn't running just makes you a hypocrite and/or a massive contrarian.
>>

Truth be told we're are boiling frogs.
But does the 2 trillion to healthcare actually do anything but fund insurance companies and price gouging medical, pharma, and medical equipment companies?
Are you aware that healthcare premiums (monthly payments) are nearly $500+ per person per month on the "Affordable" market place? That's over 6k a year for most people. The average person will not even incur major healthcare costs until they're nearly 50.
Check it out here : https://www.healthcare.gov/see-plans/#/
Then if you need anything major, you'll pay the deductible which is usually around $7000 to $8000 for ACA.
If you see a doctor for something minor it's usually $20-$50, and a specialist $25-$75. The same horseshit usually applies to meds.
So, the question is: do you believe it should cost over 2 trillion in government funds, not even including the copays or the consumer contribution to provide healthcare to 120 million people or so people?
That is about $17k per year per person and many won't even use their insurance past anything but one or two doctor visits.
And Democrats are trying to push more money into this system that's so obviously, tangibly broken causing a massive price inflation simply to satisfy YOY growth and push the line up when it comes to the price caps set.

All the shit Dems speak about corporate greed falls out the window when it comes to healthcare. With this it's become obvious that Democrat politicians love this shit, and Democrat voters are unaware retarded neoliberal crony capitalists. That's why I hate Dems, and that's why people who vote for what the late night comedy shows say disgust me.
>>
Additional resources for those with a Democrat, European, Canadian, and social media level understanding of how healthcare in the US works and why it's completely fucked up.

Capitation is a payment arrangement for health care service providers. It pays a set amount for each enrolled person assigned to them, per period of time, whether or not that person seeks care.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capitation_(healthcare)

This ain't capitalism, this is corporate socialism.
