President Trump in recent days has lashed out at a familiar foe during a low point in his presidency: the press.

Trump has escalated his swipes at the media as he faces mounting pressure from a weakening economy, setbacks from November’s elections when Democrats won big across the country, and his reversal on the Jeffrey Epstein files, which have all contributed to mounting infighting within the GOP.

Much of his ire has focused on ABC.

On Thursday, in a Truth Social post, he demanded late-night host Jimmy Kimmel be pulled off air. A day earlier, he also said the television network’s license should be taken away and “we have a great commissioner, the chairman, who should look at that,” referring to Federal Communications Commission Chair Brendan Carr.

Trump offered those remarks in response to a question by ABC News White House reporter Mary Bruce, who had asked the president questions about his decision to host Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in light of the 2018 murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

Bruce also asked the president about the Epstein files, which led Trump to call her a “terrible person and a terrible reporter.”

It wasn’t the only time in recent days that Trump directed his anger toward women in the White House press corps. Earlier in the month, when a Bloomberg reporter attempted to ask the president an Epstein-related question, Trump, his finger in the air, fired back: “Quiet. Quiet Piggy.”

I was going to chastise you for breaking the rules and posting a month old story about Trump having a temper tantrum about Kimmel
But lo and behold, the old bitch is still crying online about it kek

Kimmel correctly predicted trump is going to try and do anything to distract from the fact he's on the Epstein list.
At this rate, be prepared for trump to start war with South America.

The funny thing is he demanded Seth Myers be fired last week >>1458157 but NBC laughed and nobody took him seriously except the FCC commissioner.

Too be fair, trump and Project 2025 successfully turned CBS into a far right state propaganda network so they were feeling bullish with their continued campaign to shred the first amendment going after other comedians.
The tide really turned when the American people staged an instant boycott against ABC when trump got Kimmel fired and they lost $5 billion as a result of that before reversing course in less than a week.
So NBC is just going to hold since placating trump is not profitable and you'll be reduced to a far right wing puppet company like CBS is.

Point taken but you have to keep in mind CBS folded partly because they're owned by Paramount which was recently purchased by The Ellison family, which are big Trump supporters. Bari Weiss wouldn't be running CBS news right now without that happening.

>nobody took him seriously
the real issue is that people did take him seriously in 2016.
Trump attempted to run in '92 but the RNC already had daddy Bush and the DNC told him to fuck off, so he ran as an Indie and everyone laughed. He ended up backing Perot and handing the election to Clinton.
Everything was fine until the press started taking him seriously nine years ago, and Jeb completely sperged out.

It's part of the further conservatively biased media take over. They always treated Republicans with kids gloves, now they're just being blatant cheer leaders.

Only way to unfuck everything is go back to the good old days of Teddy Trust busting to break up the Republican near monopoly on the media.
This includes breaking up Sinclair and Nexstar, other far right media groups that have way to much market power as well.

Time to announce a 500% tariff on ABC, that'll show 'em!

At this point any further shenanigans in Venezuela should be considered escalation of conflict rather than an initiation. Donald's determined to kill whoever it takes to win a Nobel peace prize.

>>1459471
Eh, my memory was the press gave him air time because it was entertaining (I laughed at the build a wall shit, figuring it meant he wasn't a serious candidate). It was the people who took him seriously.

Right wing media is a cesspool, but I don't think it's a monopoly problem. Qanon was born here, in the internet's seedy underbelly. Sinclair's inhalation of local media is poisoning Boomers' minds, but local tv news consumption is a few orders of magnitude smaller than social media consumption, even for the boomers.

Only way to clean up social media is go scorched earth and repeal section 230.
Of course that would be terrible under trump and project 2025 since he'd let the social media continue to run amok and weaponize it to go after smaller sites instead.
The actual solution is go after the big platforms only and just break up companies so we go back to internet of the late 1990s early 2000 where everything is fragmented and not the consolidated shitshow we have now.
