Trump Library Foundation. Part of that headway was the state of Florida, somewhat controversially, giving Trump a parcel of land appraised at $60 million, but that real estate investors have said could be worth closer to $300 million. The land, which had been used as a parking lot for Miami Dade College, is located next to the Freedom Tower, a recently restored landmark on Biscayne Boulevard that represents 'freedom of the press,' having formerly housed the Miami News. It's also called the 'Ellis Island of the South,' as the building was used by the federal government to process Cuban refugees in the 1960s, fleeing Communism. Building a Trump library next door to the Freedom Tower has been met with opposition by some groups, who point to the president's hardline immigration policies. Including a 'fake news wing' in a high-rise adjacent to a press freedom monument could also ruffle some feathers.
Johnson pointed to the millions of dollars President Trump has received in settlements from media companies and suggested that those funds could be used to create the wing.'Please, for the love of God, make the fake news wing of the library sponsored by ABC News and CBS and 60 Minutes and put their logos right up there,' Johnson told Eric Trump during a podcast interview in late October. 'And just show everyone who paid for the fake news of the library.' Eric Trump called Johnson's suggestion 'beautiful.' The president's son suggested the wing would be a floor of the planned high-rise building, which Politico reported earlier this month could stretch to 47 stories, as Trump is the 45th and 47th president.The high-rise could also include a hotel, restaurant and office space, making it stand out from other presidential library projects. Eric Trump said 'fake news' exhibits could include former Vice President Kamala Harris' 60 Minutes interview played on repeat, which Trump's team claimed was deceptively edited ahead of the 2024 election.CBS said Harris' interview was edited for time, as is customary for most taped television interviews. Still, Paramount, CBS' parent company, paid Trump a $16 million settlement in July, as the company was trying to finalize an $8 billion sale to Skydance Media, which Trump's FCC approved.
