A company called Evercore ISI has been studying the sales of Christmas trees for over 20 years and has found that this is one of the most accurate ways to gauge consumer spending around the holidays. This holiday season, the annual Christmas tree survey suggests that people are spending less than usual. Tree sales were up just 3% year over year in the three weeks since Thanksgiving, compared to 2024 when sales were up 7% year over year.Sales of eight-foot and higher trees, typically the most expensive, were flat this year. The smaller six-to-eight-foot trees, ones that cost around 75$, saw a slight drop in sales. In addition, tree sellers note that extras, like wreaths, garland and baskets have been hard to move at all.Adobe reported online sales were up over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. However, account data analyzed by Bank of America found that any sales growth that happened over that weekend had already died off by the end of November.https://www.newsnationnow.com/business/your-money/lower-christmas-tree-sales-point-to-consumer-spending-hit-survey/
>>1467748Newsnation is a shitty source for not including how much the price has increased and how that has affected sales. This article seems to take the position that the trees are the same price as last year, which isn't true.
>>1467892Sales are down and people are being more careful with their spending. What don't you understand? And plenty of dogshit sources get posted on /news all the time. Quit your whining.
>>1467930There should be more “dogshit sources” posted here on /news/.
>>1467964We already knew you hate the board and want it to die. You don't need to keep telling us.
>>1467964Theres already plenty of it. Don't see what the big deal is. The survey is a legitimate one and the story is itself relevant since its CHRISTmas time and we're trying to figure out how badly the terrible economy is hurting the average American. We now know its hurting them pretty badly and we're basically in the beginning of a recession.
Dumb metric that has nothing to do with Trump. Most people are tired of paying over $100 for the shitty trees that are dying before Christmas. We got a fake tree during covid and we've been using it ever since because the cost and quality of real trees is shit now, but keep your TDS going.

>>1468016Nah, not it at all. People are broke and they all sense things are getting worse."Trumps Recession™" is destroying America
It's the feds' recession. This trend goes back many years and there's always enough time between election cycles to blame it on someone else. Apart from being a literal shill, I don't know why you would tack it on to one person like voting for the uniparty's other half is going to solve the problem. I guess you figure everyone knows that already and you're just pissing on their leg about it.
>>1468036Nah. Its "Trumps Recession™"Own it. Its all you'll be able to afford to own soon.
>>1468036The feds didn't tariff half our imports and cause the loss of thousands of jobs.
>>1468093The "Terk err jerbs" mockery started all the way back in 2004, but I guess you're just pretending those decades of losses don't factor into anything because they don't compliment your short-sighted attitude.
>>1468098your script needs more work
>>1468100You need to come up with a proper retort or stfu.
>>1468101the fact that you spew nonsense isn't something i have to "come up with"
>>1468103Nonsense is saying the feds didn't cause Americans to lose jobs.
>>1468093That sure didn't help. Neither did the uncertainty he's induced or the whole throwing the American worker under the bus. India is still taking American jobs by the hundreds of thousands, don't see Trump or the GOP controlled Congress doing a thing about that.
esl shill thinks the fed and the feds are the same thing, LOL
>>1468124Look at what minority group of people, who make up less than 2% of the American population but have a 6% representation in Congress (and MUCH higher in Wall Street,) are doing to the USA.These "investors" are behind PE's gutting of American businesses for their own personal profit. They deserve some of the blame. Hey, didn't one of them just say how Trump is Americas "first Jewish president." Weird coincidence.

>>1468151Nepo issue. None of these people are qualified. They all share the same mental disorder and ignore more qualified people in favor of their kin. We're being replaced by them and their mental illness.
