Trump has literally officially recognized Maduro's VP as the country's leader going forward. There are no plans for any elections nor recognizing the actual winner of the last election who Maduro refused to hand over power to.

Trump literally said he has no interest in allowing the opposition to gain control. He refused to endorse them and in-fact went directly against them by recognizing Maduro's VP as the new President. Combined with how much of Maduro's actual power is still there, I doubt anyone will even bother getting that opposition leader released even with Maduro gone.

All we've done is remove Maduro himself and leave everything else in place. On a strictly governmental basis, it is no different from if he died overnight from a heart attack and his VP had to take over from there.
