One thing is true – we are continuing our dialogue with the Iranian leadership.”

I don’t think the US has the capacity to close off the Caspian Sea with a blockade or anything, they’d have to send their navy through a series of canals, some in Russia, it’s a bit complicated and the Iranian ports are on the other side of Iran from the Gulf. Russia will probably be able to supply whatever they want, Azerbaijan or Turkmenistan might even allow military equipment to overland
