An indicator linked to Walmart, one that's preceded the last 4 economic downturns, is flashing a recession warning, according to Wall Street economists.

Jim Paulsen — a longtime economist and the former chief investment strategist — maintains the Walmart Recession Signal (WRS), which measures Walmart's stock price against a basket of luxury stocks. The general idea is that the higher the gauge goes, the more risk there is of a sharp economic downturn.

As the chart shows, the WRS is the highest since the Global Financial Crisis nearly two decades ago.

Given the string of bad job data, consumer credit increases, rising inflation and now gas price increases a major recession is a certainty.

Trumps speech was basically the worse news possible short of him screaming "we're sending in ground troops."

Futures are already nosediving while oil ROCKETS back above $105 like its a goddamn spaceship heading for the moon.

Ground invasion begins next week. $5 a gallon national average for gas by the end of next week.

I can't wait for the conservative talking point to roll out explaining why recession is actually good but also bad because its somehow Biden's fault.

But wait... I thought Trump was the "no new wars" president? I distinctly remember the MAGA sycophants parroting this for months on every right-wing outlet on the planet.

It literally had nothing new. I was watching the ABC broadcast of it and they pulled up an expert right after to ask if Trump had said anything new. The guy was at a fucking loss that he analyzed it back and forth and literally couldn't find a single piece of new info. It was a completely redundant conference at a time where people needed certainty.
