WESTLAKE, Ohio (WEWS) - A 91-year-old woman’s family was concerned for her welfare after she hadn’t answered their calls.

Police officers went to her Ohio home to check, but what they found was probably not what they were expecting.

Westlake police were at the home of the 91-year-old woman on the night of April 9.

Police and her family were all unable to reach the homeowner.

The woman is part of Westlake’s Are You Okay program, which allows residents to sign up for a daily call to check in and make sure everything’s all right.

“It really is a nice service that has saved lives in the past,” Westlake police Capt. Jerry Vogel said.

Earlier this year, the program helped lead police to a woman who fell inside her home and could not get back up.

This time, it was for the woman who was not answering the call.

“Everyone’s a little concerned she was missing these contacts,” Vogel said.

To protect the woman’s identity, police did not release all the video, but what happened was something no one would have guessed.

“Turned out to be all OK. Everyone got a good laugh out of it,” Vogel said.

Police found the woman all right in her room.

“We’re with her now. She’s playing video games in her bedroom,” officers could be heard saying on the dispatch audio.

Police said she was trying to beat her record level in the video game. In the process, she apparently missed those attempts to check in on her.

The woman was thankful officers came out to check, police added.

Sounds made up to advertise the program.

It does. I want to know some details like which game, what’s she been eating and drinking, and when did she start gaming.
The last one is interesting because she would’ve been in at least her 40’s when first being exposed to vidya in any form

There's usually a few pre-loaded on phones these days.
