He also operated Redemptive Sports, an indoor baseball and softball facility in Keller.Whiteman also was previously approved as an “Off-Campus Physical Activities provider” at Carroll, though the district said he only worked with one student in the 2022-23 school year.THESA sent parents waivers to sign, with the coach’s testimony attached, according to Smith. Whiteman will be listed on the Texas sex offender registry until 2030 due to online solicitation of a minor.Carroll ISD said it is investigating the situation, according to an email sent to CHRON:“Carroll ISD is aware of concerns regarding an Off-Campus Physical Activities (OCPA) provider and is currently reviewing the situation. The provider in question was utilized by one student during the 2022-23 school year at a parent’s request and, to our knowledge, has not been used by any other CISD students since that time.
“At present, participation in OCPA programs has been driven by parent request. When parents request that an outside activity be considered for PE credit, the District has historically allowed that decision to remain at the parent’s discretion.“The following statement can be seen on the OCPA registration packet when students apply for PE credit with an outside entity: ‘I understand that the District has no control over the operations or premises of my child’s particular activity. I further understand that my child will not be under the supervision of a District employee but will be under the supervision of a representative of the assigned activity while participating in the activity.’“The Board of Trustees is reviewing the internal processes related to OCPA activity approvals and will evaluate how the District should proceed moving forward. The safety and well-being of our students remain our highest priority, and we take all concerns seriously.”Whiteman was also approved as an off-campus provider for the 2024-25 school year, according to a Carroll ISD agenda from Feb. 26, 2024. It is not known whether he was utilized by a student in 2024-25.The Star-Telegram reached out to Carroll ISD for clarification and has yet to receive a response.After the recent revelation, THESA no longer lists Whiteman as head coach, and he does not appear on the team’s MaxPreps profile. According to Smith, THESA sent a statement to parents saying Whiteman resigned due to “operational challenges” and did not mention his sex offender status.
The Star-Telegram reached out to THESA Baseball and the THESA board of directors for a comment and has not received a response. Former Southlake Mayor John Huffman is on THESA board of directors overseeing baseball and basketball.According to Smith, THESA parents were asked to sign a waiver to allow Whiteman to coach, but it did not specifically mention his status as a sex offender.Whiteman, who attended the University of Oklahoma, also has violence and assault convictions in Oklahoma in 1999 and 2000, according to Smith.On the Redemptive Sports website, Whiteman wrote about his sex offense:“Eventually I found myself in chat rooms late into the night while my wife and innocent infant daughter slept,” Whiteman wrote. “I was engaging in inappropriate conversations that led to adultery. One of these online conversations ended up being with a minor…but it was never a minor…it was a police officer. The sting went down exactly like you would imagine on T.V. It was no question the worst day AND the best day of my life.”Whiteman, who was drafted by the Houston Astros in the sixth round and played six years in the minor leagues, also wrote that his faith gave him redemption.“He redeemed my life and made it new,” Whiteman wrote. “He redeemed my marriage and made it new. We hope that you are encouraged that there is nothing the Lord can’t redeem.”Under Article 62.063 of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure, a registered sex offender may not provide any service at a public or private primary or secondary school, coach or mentor a child, or provide services to certain centers.According to MaxPreps, Fort Worth THESA played area schools Grapevine Faith, Fort Worth Christian and Chisholm Trail in the 2025-26 season.
Smith said a THESA parent reached out to her and said Whiteman mentioned struggles with pornography but did not mention his status as a sex offender. The parent called it a “misrepresentation of the seriousness of his past issues.”Redemptive Sports has deactivated its Instagram and Facebook accounts.
